Good early pressure anticipated with a large contingent of first starters. PELEUS (5) third-up for this and a win looks imminent. Closed strongly first-up to finish second, then sent to town with a disappointing fourth over 1200m at Rosehill. Kept fresh and gets his chance here over the 1100m. ROYAL BOTANIC (10) Ole Kirk filly from Amaryliss on debut for the Kris Lees yard. Has impressed in the last two trials and gets map favours. Expected to go close. SANT GERVASI (6) was thereabouts in four starts at his first prep and expected to have strengthened over the break. Ran fifth in a recent trial at Hawkesbury. Good chance to break through on his home track. SMOKE 'N' DARTS (7) showed good early speed on debut with a gritty second to the progressive Poisonous over 1100m at this track. Fitter now and can overcome the awkward draw. SUGGESTED PLAY: Peleus and Royal Botanic can fight it out.
