Plenty of first starters engaged which makes it tricky to map, but we can assume a solid tempo. DEFIANCE (4) gelded over the break after disappointing in three strong Maiden races last campaign. Gelding looks to have done the trick after winning his two trials in grand style. Can take control early and prove hard to run down over this trip. DINGLE GREY (5) resumes on her home track after circling the field for a fast finishing second over 1000m at Port Macquarie on debut. Fitted with the one sound trial placing over 800m at Hawkesbury. Well in with the claim and shapes as the main danger. POISONOUS (1) four-year-old who resumes today after he showed good early speed on debut before fading to run last over 1100m at Randwick Kensington in a Super Maiden last June. Pulled up (4/5) lame in the near hind leg on that occasion. Two good trial wins should have him ready for this. Each-way. BOLD BUCKS (7) Capitalist colt out of the good producing mare Impetuous on debut for the Richard & Will Freedman yard. Impressed in the latest trials and gets map favours for this. Top-three player. SUGGESTED PLAY: Defiance and Dingle Grey can fight it out.
