CLUB FORSTER MAIDEN PLATE 1000m
Plenty of pace evident with Diva Rouge and Magnolia Jewel leading the way from Mystic Way and Femella.
NARCISSIST (1) has not raced since finishing a luckless seventh as favourite on debut over this distance at Gosford in October 2023. Two recent trials have been okay. It's been a long break but if he is anywhere near right he can take this out. DIVA ROUGE (3) with the race fitness edge is the danger. Caught on a limb at Scone last time but kept fighting to finish fourth over today's journey. Only needs to hold that form and handle the going to give this a mighty shake. MYSTIC WAY (6) returns from an 18-week spell. Opened last prep with a minor placing in a $50k maiden at Walcha. Certainly good enough, but no placings from five runs on rain affected tracks is a concern. SHE CAN DANCE (8) has been safely held in both runs this prep but can improve with added fitness. MAGNOLIA JEWEL (5) has been contesting better maidens than this. One for the exotics. SUGGESTED PLAY: Punting on Narcissist being forward enough. |

LAKES & OCEAN HOTEL BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1000m
There should be a bit of pressure with Moden and Hard Rattle pressing forward in advance of Headstart and Hermosa Rosa.
ALBION SQUARE (3) showed pace to the corner but was swamped in the closing stages and finished 3.2 lengths from the winner in a BM55 over this distance at the Sunshine Coast last start. Doesn't win often but this is a much easier race so he gets his chance. HARD RATTLE (7) is a 17-start maiden who backs up four days after a decent third over 1100m at Wellington on heavy ground. Capable of testing this lot. CHAMP DE MARS (1) closed well to get up for third when resuming over 930m at Moruya recently. Races well second-up and handles the going so she has definite claims. HERMOSA ROSA (2) made it four minor placings from as many runs this prep when she led but just failed to hold on over 1200m at Coonabarabran a fortnight ago. Loves it wet and coming back in trip looks the right move. CARBROOK (4) from a good gate is the pick of the others. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Albion Square to record a rare win. |

Lack of early speed means Jeunetos could find the lead. |
