THE CYRIL SMALL Maiden Handicap 1800m
Moderate tempo with Prefer To Dance leading the way and a few others keeping in touch. SLUGWORTH (2) should run well in what is a weak distance maiden. On breeding alone he should be competitive. Has a much better barrier today as well so gets a cheap run in transit. OBSTRUCTIONIST (12) will be going forward again you would think. He wasn't beaten far at his last outing down south. Won't have to improve much now in a new stable. BETA BETTER (14) has gone better second up and can do that even better here. Doubt the distance will be a problem. CAESAR CAKE (10) has been getting too far back. Should enjoy running over a longer journey. CAPTAIN INSANO (3) wears blinkers now. That may help. SUGGESTED PLAY: Slugworth gets a soft run. |

QJA REMEMBERS OUR FALLEN RIDERS BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1000m
Despite the small field Russian Pins, Campai and Ran Na Lady can set a strong tempo. CAMPAI (1) does have some claims dropping back from an Open race and will appreciate the drop in grade. Her form prior is solid and the 3kg claim comes in handy. Drawn to get every chance from the inside barrier and will take beating. RAN NA LADY (3) keeps racing with some consistency. She is always thereabouts and with the claim and wet track on hand, she can play a leading role. DON'T BE DRAMATIC (4) was a good winner first up at Ipswich and he's taken a liking to the wet tracks on offer. Won't be far away. LA SOEUR (7) bounced back to form at Ipswich last start following a poor run here two back. Thinking she's back on track now and can put her best foot forward. SUGGESTED PLAY: With Campai on top. |

JOCKEY CELEBRATION DAY Maiden Handicap 1200m
A solid tempo is anticipated with Egzakly and Moana Gold kicking up to hold out the next wave. MOANA GOLD (7) can be up near the pace again and this has to be easier than recent metropolitan races. She was in the market there and wasn't disgraced either and the figures she produced stack up highly in this field. Can land the knockout blow this time in what looks a suitable race. EGZAKLY (6) was weak last time but had some decent form in the first campaign. Expecting plenty of improvement with that run under her belt and out in distance now. Can bounce back. OUR JEWEL (13) has trialled again since moving up north. She was racing pretty well when in NSW. TOTALLY UNDERRATED (8) was handy at Grafton. Could get into the placings once more. SUGGESTED PLAY: Moana Gold to win. |

THE LYLE PLUMB SENIOR OPEN Handicap 1400m
Rise Of The Masses and Tavis Town will press forward in a keen battle for the lead. SAILOR'S SECRET (5) will have plenty of fans after his big win over this course and distance. This race is a little harder but you have to like what he did there. The drop in the weights will only be handy as well. RISE OF THE MASSES (3) was pretty solid at his first go for the new stable. He will probably lead from the barrier and try to run them off their feet. LADY SHOTGUN (6) came from well back in several metro races so if she can just settle that bit closer, she could run them down late. TOESONTHENOSE (4) was a bit plain last outing but good before a spell. INVER PARK (1) has its best chance if it is wet. SUGGESTED PLAY: Sailor's Secret and Lady Shotgun the plays. |

DAVE BROWN'S CELEBRATION OF LIFE BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1400m
Solid tempo set by Tarps and Salt Lake Betty. RESURRECTED (2) is racing in top order, stringing together a hat-trick of victories, the latest being over 1300m at this track. He has been up around the speed in his races and been too tough. Even the weights don't seem to be a bother to his hopes. BOWRIDER (3) will be back in the field but finding the line well. Probably wants the track to be on the softer side. Goes well for today's rider. TARPS (5) is at the other end of the field as a likely leader. Interesting rise in distance for him. DECISIVE LASS (4) is getting so close to another win. That was a good race at Grafton and she missed by a nose. SUGGESTED PLAY: Easy to side with Resurrected. |

THE ARTHUR LISTER BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1800m
Reasonable tempo with a few going forward, headed by Family Of League. GUARDED OPTIMIST (5) sat back in the field and romped home to score in impressive fashion over this track and trip a fortnight ago. That was in similar conditions to this and while he rises in weight, the margin he won by is much greater than the weight swing against him. No reason why he can't repeat the dose. CHAYSE 'N' ADAM (9) got the job done two back before a 1.2L defeat in tougher company at Doomben last time out. The inside draw should see her get every chance and the rise in trip shouldn't be an issue. Ticks plenty of boxes and can return to winning ways. WANDA'S OUTLAW (7) has been around the mark lately and the jockey last start advised she may be better over further - which she gets today. Wouldn't surprise to see her sit a touch closer and can feature. FAMILY OF LEAGUE (14) was too good from the front here last start and can go back-to-back. SUGGESTED PLAY: Guarded Optimist gets the nod. |

THE KEITH BALLARD Class 1 Handicap 1200m
Strong tempo with Majestic Affair, Gaylord and In No Doubt going forward ahead of Capital Diva and Better Be Ready. MASTER ARTIST (1) has made an impressive start to his career and finally shed the maiden tag last start at Grafton in a strong race. He turned in a strong figure there however and the rise in grade doesn't look an issue. Has some class about him and can win again. GAYLORD (3) also found his way to win at the Grafton carnival. The draw should see him close to the speed under McGuren, and his profile says there's still some room for improvement in his figures. He looks the main danger. BETTER BE READY (2) has been taking on solid Class 1s in Brisbane. Just needs fortune early. MISS WATERLINE (10) made much needed improvement two weeks back. SUGGESTED PLAY: Master Artist to win again. |

THANK YOU GCTC RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 Handicap 1400m
Miley's Memory is expected to cross from a wide draw and lead. VETOED (14) will need some luck from the draw, but she's shown good early speed in recent efforts in Country NSW where she hasn't been far away. The soft track plays into her hands nicely and if she can run up to her recent efforts, she'll be right in the finish. MOONSHINE RUN (7) comes into this without a public trial but turned in a couple of good performances in defeat last time out, particularly at Ipswich first-up. Has claims on those performances. HURRICANE HARLOW (15) is better than he showed last start at Beaudesert and can bounce back to form. MILEY'S MEMORY (11) was only caught late in a CL3 last start despite jumping a 30-1 chance. Rates highly and won't be far away. SUGGESTED PLAY: Vetoed on top. |
