TAB We're On 1410m
Expecting Our Chief to lead Hillier at just a moderate tempo. Competitive race for the new season three-year-olds to kick things off. EXIT (4) had been well backed in the G2 Blue Diamond Prelude on debut, struggling there but confirming the suspicions of ability with a smart win first up at Sandown Hillside over 1300m. Shinn sticks from the soft draw and she looks capable of going right on with it. CROSSBOW (2) has been strong to the line in two runs back this preparation in Sydney, missing a smart one narrowly at Randwick last time out. Likely goes back from the draw but shouldn't be far away in the small field and will be hard to hold out. OUR CHIEF (3) was good behind a smart one on debut, relishing the rise in trip at Geelong to score dominantly. Rolls forward for Lane and measures up. HILLIER (1) resumes with a tidy maiden win at short odds and looks open to improvement. SUGGESTED PLAY: Exit to win. |

25/26 VRC Membership Renewals Open 2530m
Reasonable tempo with a few going forward, headed by Changingoftheguard. Most of these have been racing each other throughout the Winter. BOLD SOUL (6) is the weight-dropper from the Flemington Cup last time that looks well placed. He carried 58.5kg there and found the line well for fourth. He now drops to 54.5kg having beaten key rivals at this weight scale three back. MUKTAMIL (7) beat Bold Soul with a 4.5kg weight advantage three back before that horse turned the tables at level weights two back. He was heavily backed (with 53.5kg) to win the Flemington Cup last time and ran well. Should be right there. CASINO SEVENTEEN (1) comes through different form, working home okay in a bunched finish here over 2000m last time. This trip should suit now. CHANGINGOFTHEGUARD (2) wasn't bad first up in Sydney and could be an improver. SAMUEL LANGHORNE (8) is racing consistently and an each way hope. SUGGESTED PLAY: Bold Soul to win. |

VRC.com.au Sprint 1200m
Genuine tempo with Prevailed leading the way. DE BERGERAC (6) clearly on top. He's racing in fine form this time in, a smart winner fresh before bumping into the talented La Fracas in two runs since. He drops a couple of grades for this, draws well out wider and finds a fairly winnable race. EPIC PROPORTIONS (3) dropped back to midweek grade last start, was heavily supported and got the job done comfortably at Randwick Kensington. He's consistent and puts himself on speed, the last 50m may be touch and go. THE SHAPER (8) dropped back to this trip at Sandown Lakeside last start and won very well with the light weight. He wants a strongly run race and should get it. CAPPER THIRTYNINE (2) resumes. He can sprint well fresh and has the ability. Watch betting. SUGGESTED PLAY: De Bergerac to win. |

Jockeys Celebration Day Sprint 1100m
Call To Glory and South Of India possess good early speed and will set a genuine tempo. LOSESOMEWINMORE (2) is a good straight track horse coming off a narrow win with 61kg here last time out over 1000m. He's arguably even better suited at 1100m and this looks another ideal benchmark race to notch up another victory. SOUTH OF INDIA (1) hasn't been beaten far in two runs in good company in Sydney this time in, finishing fourth in both runs. He's a speedy type back in grade here who should take catching. EYE OF THE FIRE (3) was better second up here behind the smart La Fracas when giving a sight. He should be up on speed out wide and hard to run down. DOCUMENTARY (9) worked home quite well here fresh behind Losesomewinmore and can improve a fair bit at just his fifth career start. Up in trip suits. CALL TO GLORY (6) comes through the same race and will give a sight. SUGGESTED PLAY: Losesomewinmore on top. |

VRC Spring Gala Plate 2000m
Expecting Amberite to take up the running with Catani Gardens and Morning Sun close at hand. Like the set up for FEDERER (14) who has been campaigning in Sydney this time in. He's been getting closer with each run off a long break, beaten a long neck at Randwick last time out. He's bred to stay being out of Caulfield Cup winner Jameka and gets to 2000m for the first time with Shinn booked from a low draw. AZTEC STATE (1) had things against at Caulfield second up when too far back from a wide draw. The first up win was outstanding but he likely gives Federer a decent head start with an inexperienced apprentice on. CATANI GARDENS (12) has won two of three this time in and should take up a prominent role from the inside gate. PARADISE STORM (9) is coming along well and ready to peak now. SUGGESTED PLAY: Federer to win. |

Victorian Jockeys' Association Trophy 1410m
Run Harry Run has the pace to lead in what is likely to be a moderate tempo. ZOU SENSATION (8) gets in relatively well at the weights again here having won in this grade at Caulfield last time out, proving far too strong late to score by 1.75 lengths. Handled the rise to 1400m very well there and while this looks a bit harder, he's improving and should measure up strongly. MUNHAMEK (2) is an interesting one to assess. He was excellent in the Winter Championship Final two back and good again last week but now drops back in trip on the quick turnaround. He'll want a fast tempo up front which doesn't look overly likely. Still good enough to win. RUN HARRY RUN (4) is racing well and can set up nicely on speed. He was behind Zou Sensation last time but does meet that horse better at the weights. CAFE MILLENIUM (5) needs things to go his way but has claims on the fast finishing win two back. RUNNING BY (7) needs relatively dry going and is a chance if she gets it. SUGGESTED PLAY: Zou Sensation to win. |

Aurie's Star Handicap 1200m
Expecting Marble Nine to find the lead but there will be plenty of pressure over the sprint trip. The feature of the day. KING OF ROSEAU (10) comes down from Sydney in fine form, a winner of his past two. He sat midfield off a fast tempo at Rosehill last start and really came away late in good style. Drawn out wide here he can blend into the race and give the favourite a contest. That favourite will (and deserves to) be SPLASH BACK (11) who is off a let up here. She won dominantly fresh over this trip before a breathtaking win over 1420m here, sprouting wings late when looking in all sorts of trouble to get up. She's got a sharp turn of foot and plenty of ability down in the weights for one of the best stables in the country. Go close. MARBLE NINE (2) is hard to knock. He's won his past three, all down the Flemington straight. He'll be up on speed which is his main advantage and a notable one. BOSSY NIC (9) and JOYFUL FORTUNE (1) have each way claims on best figures. SUGGESTED PLAY: Leaning to King Of Roseau. |

2025 Melbourne Cup Carnival On Sale 1620m
Pace looks strong with He'll Rip and Black Storm pressing forward to challenge Outta Compton along the inside. TOO DARN DISCREET (15) creates interest dropping 4.5kg in weight and getting a senior rider aboard. While she finished seventh of eight at Caulfield first up, she was simply out-sped settling last off a fast tempo, actually working home quite well. Her 3yo Spring form as a G3 and G2 winner reads well and getting up in trip looks ideal with that pipe opener providing a good platform. ONE LONG DAY (11) is a ripper having finished in the quinella in 8/9 runs. He just found one better first up atSandown Lakeside over 1200m and while rising in trip quickly, he does boast a win over La Fracas at this track and trip which reads well. OUTTA COMPTON (5) is racing in fine form, just missing the hattrick at Caulfield last start. Can land in a prominent spot and take beating. HE'LL RIP (14) struggled last time without the best of runs but was in good form prior and has won at a mile. EL SOLEADO (1) has a big weight but is suited up to this trip now and the first up run was good. SUGGESTED PLAY: Too Darn Discreet to win. |

Inside Headquarters Handicap 1410m
Plenty of speed engaged with Honor Galore, Ten Deep and Friday At Five going forward ahead of Capricorn Star and Terrestar. Leaning to TEN DEEP (15) who should be at peak fitness now third up. Both runs back from a spell have been good, left chasing a tearaway leader second up at Sandown Hillside and no match for the race-fit winner. Drawn wide here but can roll forward with just 52kg on her back and she'll take catching from there. ILLYIVY (9) was a long way off the leader who kicked for home last start but relished the chase and finished too well. Takes on the older horses now but is going very well and should go close. STYLISH (1) won dominantly two back before being well backed in a slowly run Leilani Series Final here last time. Well placed this level. TERRESTAR (4) was poor in that Final but had been going well prior including a second to Splash Back who is favourite in the Group 3 earlier. Tough draw but can bounce back. SUGGESTED PLAY: Ten Deep to win. |
