BEN & NOLA WORTELBOER MEMORIAL RACE 1100m
Rotten Tommy, Love The Sort and Cashla Bay to match motors but there will be other pressure. CASHLA BAY (4) ended her initial campaign with a solid run in Stakes company at Te Rapa and was not disgraced in ninth place. She will be a lot stronger now and is no doubt eyeing up some early spring features. On top. ELIZA JAMES (5) won easily on debut at Riccarton on a good track before struggling as an odds-on favourite there on an unsuitable heavy track a month later. She resumes on her home track and should be right in the finish. LOVE THE SORT (3) made a winning debut on the Cambridge poly track just over 6 weeks ago, and is likely to put herself right on the pace in this. She has plenty of scope and can remain unbeaten. PROSPER (6) won her debut 10 days ago at Cambridge over 970m, and to see her backing up so quickly is an encouraging sign. Craig Grylls steps into the irons, and from the pole position, she can repeat the dose. CONSCRIBE (7) was doing her best work late on debut here 3 weeks ago, finishing fifth. She will be better for the experience, and has top 3 claims. SUGGESTED PLAY: Cashla Bay can kick off the new season on a winning note in an even contest. |

RUAKAKA BEACH FRONT MOTEL 1200m
Expecting Don't Tell Rachel to find the lead but there will be plenty of pressure over the sprint course. UNWRITTEN (8) won a trial before finishing a bold third as favourite on debut at Avondale on a very testing track that day. She will naturally improve with the experience and is sure to be among the hardest to beat in this. Follow your money. NOTABADBERGS (3) did not cope with the very heavy track second up at Avondale, and his effort for second here when resuming is the guide to use. Stick with him. Each way. BREGO (2) gave a good sight in front before finishing third behind a smart type fresh up at Arawa Park a fortnight ago. Those front-running tactics can be a bonus on this circuit, and with the advantage of a 4kg claim, he will take some pegging back again. GO EASY (4) is resuming from a spell and is capable of running into the money here. SUGGESTED PLAY: Unwritten has plenty of scope and can be a quick improver. |

MARSDEN COVE DENTAL 1300m
Abundant pace from Tomoe Gozen, Chicago Dream and Berenhard vying for the lead with Free Bird on their backs. FREE BIRD (6) caused a minor upset when lifting late to score a tough win fresh up here 5 weeks ago, getting the nod in to score by a short-head. Her stable is running hot at the moment, and she will be even sharper second up. On top. SECRET LIFE (7) has been freshened up since resuming from a spell with a midfield finish at New Plymouth 10 weeks ago. She prefers some cut in the ground, and in a modest field, she can figure in the top 3. SACRED ZED (4) ran on too late at Pukekohe last time out and is likely to race a lot handier to the pace this time from a superior gate. Matt Cartwright won on him when he cleared his maiden status, and the pair combine again for the first time since that win. Each way value. BAD EDUCATION (1) is usually thereabouts, and he was fifth here last time out in a tougher class. A good draw will help, and he could settle a touch closer than normal this time. He would not be a shock winner, so stick with him. CHICAGO DREAM (2) can lead this field. Each way. SUGGESTED PLAY: Sacred Zed can bounce back into form in a modest lineup. |

AOTEA ELECTRIC NORTHLAND BREAM BAY SPRINT 1300m
Anticipate Fantastic Smile, Highly Anticipated and Elysian Fields to set a strong tempo. HIGHLY ANTICIPATED (5) is a consistent mare who just failed to see out the mile at Avondale last time out when setting the pace and finishing third. That track was particularly testing, and the drop back to 1300m here will be in her favour. A good draw will make her hard to peg back again. INTERLAKEN (2) franked his easy trial win at Avondale with a big effort to score there on debut. He has quite a bit left in hand that day and should go right on with the job. GAMEPLAY (3) failed to race up to expectations when resuming over a mile at Ellerslie at the beginning of February, and was put aside immediately after that. His debut win is too good to ignore, and he should be given a chance to redeem himself fresh up in this. Each way. FANTASTIC SMILE (1) was only claimed late here 3 weeks ago, beaten by a head. That was a nice return to form for this gelding, and he can figure in the finish again. EVELYN RUSH (9) can be forgiven for her last start at Arawa Park, and is worth including. SUGGESTED PLAY: Interlaken looks to be very promising and could be the one to side with here. |

TRIGG CONSTRUCTION 1600m
Super Rosa to set a genuine tempo from the inside draw, kept honest by Vegas Lights. MORNING COCOA (8) ended her initial prep with 4 second-place finishes in a row, including her last run at Matamata in the middle of May, where she charged home late to finish second by a short-head. She was third in a tune-up trial, and must be fit as she resumes over a mile. On top. WITH GRACE (7) has been third in her last couple of visits to this circuit. She is normally running on strongly, and only needs the right tempo to break through for an overdue maiden win. EMBOSSED (1) made up a lot of late ground when finishing second here 5 weeks ago in his first attempt over a mile. A good draw will help, and Craig Grylls is back in the saddle. Stick with him. SUPER ROSA (9) tried hard when finishing runner-up here 3 weeks ago. She gets a big swing in her draw, and has to be respected. SUGGESTED PLAY: Morning Cocoa will be ready to run a bold race fresh up. |

ROOFING SPECIALISTS NORTHLAND 1600m
Moderate tempo with Ravenna Rose leading the way. LEVAKIA (6) pulled off a betting plunge when scoring a big win here 5 weeks ago, making up for some unlucky efforts before that when she was building up her fitness levels. She has more in store, and as long as the track is not too heavy, she should be the one to beat again. OCEAN ROAD (4) knuckled down late and came with a big finish through the middle to score by half a length at Arawa Park a fortnight ago. The step up to a mile will suit him, and he will give the top pick plenty to think about. NANCY SHE WROTE (1) won her first race in a clockwise direction here 3 weeks ago. She is still on the up with her finish, so include her in all multiples. RICHIE'S DREAM (5) drops back to a mile and is not out of this. SUGGESTED PLAY: Levakia has more to offer and should continue to work through the grades. |

A1 HOMES BREAM BAY STAYERS 2100m
Expecting Pure Gold and Brian Lamont to pair off in front. SUAVETTA (7) drops back in grade from her last start on this track 3 weeks ago, and the step up to a middle distance for the first time in this campaign will suit her. She has time to find a handy spot from her tricky gate, and in a modest field, she could be the one to side with. ROSINA (10) has found it hard to win another race and was unsuited by a heavy track at Arawa Park 2 weeks ago. She is capable of bouncing back into some good form in a field like this. Each way. MARRIAGE VOWS (4) ran on late to finish second by under 2 lengths in a stronger field at New Plymouth a fortnight ago. She won her maiden in a clockwise direction at Pukekohe, and with the benefit of a 4kg claim, she can go one better here. BARCELONA (8) has been mixing her form this prep and ran on resolutely in BM75 company at Te Rapa last week over a mile. Include in all combos. BRIAN LAMONT (1) had been racing over jumps prior to his last start upset win at Te Aroha. He has won here in the past, so go again. SUGGESTED PLAY: Brian Lamont has been sharpened up by recent hurdle racing. Each way. |
