NUM TIME COMMENT
1 12:37 STORM SIGNAGE Maiden Plate 1200m
Rapid Power should lead at a strong tempo. GERALDINE'S WISH (7) has been thereabouts since shifting to the more Northern parts of Queensland, and has been third twice for the Rowe stables. She drops 2.5kg from her last run and has Jackson Murphy in the saddle this time. Hard to beat. MISS COMANECI (11) resumed with a modest run at Mackay last week and will improve quickly with that run under his belt. The blinkers going back on will help her, and she can have a say in the finish here. Each way. SPRING'S GIFT (13) has been freshened up since finishing second at a recent Home Hill picnic meeting 5 weeks ago. She was close up in a tune-up trial on this course, and will have the pole position advantage. Stick with her. ARIK LAD (1) battled on late for fifth here 2 weeks ago and had an excuse for a modest effort before that. He has had a gear change and only needs to settle better to be a big threat. Include in all combinations. HOLD MY HALO (8) is knocking on the door, and is ready to break through at short notice.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Arik Lad can turn things around here. Each way.
2 01:12 SELECT EVENT QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1000m
Krackacan, Whiskey River and Gold Classic to battle for the lead at a strong tempo. GOLD CLASSIC (3) raced close to the pace and fought on gamely to finish fourth as favourite at Cairns 18 days ago, and may have been short of a gallop with 5 weeks between runs leading into that race. She will be spot on with her fitness now and is set to make amends. Follow your money. KRACKACAN (1) won 2 of his 3 starts in his initial prep and was runner-up in the last of those before having a well-earned spell. He bolted home in a recent Rockhampton trial and resumes with the blinkers on for the first time. A 3kg claim will make him hard to hold out here. WHISKEY RIVER (6) needed his last start at Cairns and will be a lot sharper for this assignment. He is having just his second start from the Ricky Ludwig stable, and can figure in the top 3. NOOSHBAHOOSH (8) was swamped in the final strides at Cairns last start and finished runner-up by a head. Ash Butler sticks with him, and from the pole position, the pair will be in the finish again.  SUGGESTED PLAY: In a very competitive field, Gold Classic can get the job done.
3 01:47 THE VILLE RESORT BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1000m
Plenty of speed runners engaged, with Exolent Choice, Eclipsion and Prideofthebigfish prominent. EXOLENT CHOICE (2) has gone to another level since making the move from Sydney earlier in the year. He has won 3 of his 4 starts from his North Queensland base at Richmond, and there is no reason why he can't win again. MADAM BORODINA (14) stuck on gamely for fourth fresh up here 2 weeks ago and will have a superior gate this time. She won't mind some cut in the ground, and will be suited by dropping back from 1200m to 1000m. Stick with her, can win. JUNGLE JUICE (5) is a stablemate of the second pick who has also battled in her first 2 starts back from a spell. He can go better, and is well worth each-way consideration. STATESWOMAN (15) was tried in front last time out and after giving a good kick on the turn, she held on for second. She drops a furlong and can go one better.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Exolent Choice can take this out, though he won't have it all his own way.
4 02:22 MM ELECTRICAL RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1609m
Genuine pace with Kickagoal Kenny taking up the running ahead of Consider It Ready and Livewire Lass.  THAT'S IT (2) has been battling in tougher company here recently and will have the blinkers on for the first time. It is encouraging to see Ryan Wiggins in the saddle, and in this easier class, the pair will be hard to hold out. KICKAGOAL KENNY (8) finished third at Cairns nearly 6 weeks ago, and will find this company more to his liking. He cops a wide gate and steps up to a mile for the first time, but is still a winning chance. Each way. GOODNIGHT ROMEO (6) made the most of a change of tactics by leading all the way here to score comfortably to clear his maiden status. A wide draw is no help, but with some luck and maybe a cheap lead, he can figure in the top 3 again. KEEP ON RUNNING (1) did not have all the luck in the world here nearly 4 weeks ago, running on when the race was all over. He has a handy gate and can bounce back into form here. STORE BEACH (9) dropped out as favourite at Cairns last start and had a nice swing in his draw this time. He is worth another chance.  SUGGESTED PLAY: That's It has a big chance to bounce back into form here.
5 02:57 LADBROKES OPEN Handicap 1609m
Acclimatise to take charge ahead of Dillinger at a good tempo. BEAU RAIN (4) saves his best for his home track and followed up a recent narrow win with a second-place finish by the same margin here nearly 4 weeks ago. He handles any track conditions and will lose nothing with Ash Butler in the saddle for the first time. On top. ARMOUR FORCE (6) has not won for some time, and his recent form has been below his best. He will appreciate getting out to a mile and will also relish being back on this circuit. A form reversal will be no surprise. DILLINGER (8) is a handy ex-Victorian-trained gelding making his North Queensland debut. His last start was less than a month ago over 2100m, so he won't have lost any condition, and a bold run can be expected, especially if the money comes for him. JOHN JOSEPH (14) is capable on his day and won't lack fitness. Include in all combos.  SUGGESTED PLAY: In a good field, Dillinger could be one to keep an eye on.
6 03:37 EQUUS PERFORMANCE LIGHTNING OPEN Handicap 1000m
Viburnum and Roweiner's Dance possess good early speed. ROWEINER'S DANCE (2) has been a wonderful performer in this area for a long time, and all of his 12 career wins have been on this track. He is used to carrying big weights, and from a handy draw, over his favourite trip, he will be among the hardest to beat again. MOLONGLE SURPRISE (5) has needed both of his runs back from a long spell and was a very good gelding earlier in his career. If he can find that sort of form again, then he can definitely win a race like this. LADY DAMUS (13) has been putting them together down in the grades and will find this a whole lot tougher. She is down 6.5kg in weight and is in a good space, so don't write her off. NORTHERN EXPRESS (1) battled on well enough over 1200m here 2 weeks ago and is a better chance over 1000m. Go again.  SUGGESTED PLAY: A wide open field and Roweiner's Dance would be a popular winner.
7 04:12 CHRYSALIS MEDISPA BELLE OF THE BURDEKIN Fillies and Mares BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1400m
Solid tempo expected primarily from Chickerartie and Imagine That.  KOBAYASTAR (8) will be peaking third up from a spell. She is down in class and has Jackson Murphy replacing an apprentice this time. A wide gate is no help, but she is ready to win again at short notice. IMAGINE THAT (2) has been burning up the tracks on the picnic circuit recently and is having her first start around this circuit. She is the likely pacemaker, and with Ash Butler in the saddle, she could take some pegging back. BERNICE'S SPIRIT (14) has been below her best in a couple of starts back from a spell and has since joined the local Graham Kliese stable. She cops a nasty gate, but has shown enough ability when trained further South, to say that she can improve in this area. Include in all combinations. BRAVE AGENDA (4) got back further than expected here 2 weeks ago and ran on when the race was all over. She can stay in the clear this time from a wide gate and is more than capable of figuring in the top 3, so stick with her. LOWLANDS (12) is another with sound place claims.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Kobayastar is nicely placed to get the job done here.
8 04:44 HIGGINS COATINGS BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1200m
Plenty of speed with Room For Squares, Super Freeze and Arctic Bear leading Reggie's Boy and You Are King. SUPER FREEZE (10) has been given a freshen up after fading as favourite in the home straight after setting the pace here nearly 5 weeks ago, finishing seventh. He had won 2 on the bounce before that. He has a senior hoop back in the saddle to replace an apprentice, and despite a wide gate, he can make amends. LEAN EAGLE (2) is a very progressive gelding who is chasing a hat-trick of wins. He handles any track conditions and will have plenty of options early on from the pole position. He has earned his 62kg top weight, but can get the job done again. TRAPASSI (6) was third fresh up for a new trainer and has won a trial since that start near the end of June. The extra furlong is ideal, and he can go one better. CHARTWELL (7) capped off some consistent form with a well-deserved win by a short head here nearly 4 weeks ago. A 3kg claim will offset his weight rise, and he should be on all quaddie tickets to be safe. ARCTIC BEAR (9) is a promising gelding who can overcome a wide gate.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Another very even contest, and Lean Eagle won't let you down.
