WELLINGTON SOLDIERS MEMORIAL & GOLF CLUB WELLINGTON TOWN PLATE SHOWCASE OPEN HANDICAP 1100m

Track: SOFT 5   Clear (Max: 18)   Rail: True.

Chandon Star is the likely leader at a strong tempo. PRIDE TO FOLLOW (4) classy mare who will relish this easier contest third-up. Went back from the draw when up in trip for a plugging tenth over 1400m at Scone in the Northern Wild Card. Cherry-ripe now and expected to make rapid improvement. CHANDON STAR (2) kept fresh after disappointing on the quick back-up with an out-of-character ninth over 1100m at Armidale. Has a high cruising speed and look for a much better effort today. COUGARS (6) tough gelding who drops sharply in trip for this. Covered ground early and was found wanting with the 57.5kg when twelfth over 1400m at Goulburn in the Southern Wild Card. Assess on his good Highway win over the 1200m last December. Respect. SARATOGA POWER (1) improving with racing and will appreciate the claim and visors today. Came out quickly and gripped on to run third over 1000m at Muswellbrook. Sure to be thereabouts. RIVKIN (5) due for a change of luck and keep safe with the claim. Maps well and has each way prospects. SUGGESTED PLAY: Box Quinella 4,2,6,1.
