Not much early pressure but Doonican, Chicane and Fashion Fox can take up forward spots. ES AND ES (1) is a very genuine performer and has made it 2 wins from his last 3 starts when scoring by a length at Launceston just over 3 weeks ago. The drop back to 1800m is not a problem, and in a similar race, he can double the dose. AL MAXIMUS (4) is another consistent gelding who fought on strongly for his second-place finish here nearly 2 weeks ago. He won on this track in March and will be right in the finish again. FASHION FOX (6) boxed on fairly well off a torrid trip here last time out. He led all the way before that when winning at Hobart, and could try similar front-running tactics here. Stick with him. CHICANE (3) was not beaten far when finishing fourth here nearly a fortnight ago, when having a very tough trip. With some better luck, he can figure in the top 3. Don't risk him.
