A solid tempo is anticipated with Gandalf and Gorbachev kicking up to hold out the next wave. GORBACHEV (11) returned from an eighteen-week break with a narrow win in a 1000m Gosford maiden, bearing down late to just arrive. Lightly raced three-year-old with improvement to come off that run, particularly out to this more suitable trip. GANDALF (7) raced handy then was too good for his rivals on debut last time out over 1100m at Hawkesbury. Wide gate a worry but with natural improvement likely he is in the mix again. PUERTO BANUS (2) added to his list of strong recent results with a solid second last start in open company over 1280m at Muswellbrook. Won't find this as tough so he is right in contention. BELLENTH (4) impressed here over 1000m recently when back after almost a year away from racing. Progressive four-year-old who will be hard to hold out over the extra furlong. Not much appeal outside this quartet, maybe include COOL LAD (12) in wider exotic plays. SUGGESTED PLAY: Gorbachev on top but little separates the top four selections.
