Gundagai   12 Apr 2026

GOING: S(5)

TOOHEYS COUNTRY BOOSTED MAIDEN HANDICAP 1180m

Track: SOFT 5   Clouds (Max: 15)   Rail: True.

Hold This and Bomen Babe should set a strong tempo. CHOC CHIP (7) settled midfield then closed with purpose but found the winner too good on debut last start over 1000m at Albury. Beautifully placed out to this trip. Doesn't have a great deal of legitimate opposition here so it is a great chance to break the ice. The obvious threat is BOMEN BABE (8) who last appeared when a close second on debut over 1000m at the Sapphire Coast in October. Missed the kick that day and won't want to do that today from a wide draw. Should improve this prep and getting out over more ground will suit. MIDNIGHT IN MINORI (17) returns from a 12-week spell. Has been in the money five times from 16 starts, twice when today's rider Cory Parish has steered. Hard to be confident after so many misses - each-way the best play. SACRED INFERNO (2) hasn't fired in two runs this prep but this is an easier assignment and a couple of gear changes may have an effect. INITIATE (4) is rarely far away and with luck from a wide draw can feature in the finish. SUGGESTED PLAY: Keen on Choc Chip.
