Sizzling pace from Dashing Basics, Foremost and Pipatina locking horns ahead of Bertus and Snitzond. SNITZOND (5) is a former Victorian who has been busting to win in better Maidens. There's been nothing in it at Ipswich at his last two, and the well-bred gelding gets another chance. SOCIALLY RED (11) switched from a Victorian yard and was expected to win at the Sunshine Coast first-up, beaten 1.6L. The mare pulled up with symptoms of heat stress and is back after 20 days. Draws awkwardly but is worth another chance. DASHING BASICS (1) is a leader who will be better for his two starts. Expect him to skip across and give a sight. BERTUS (13) resumes and has switched from a NSW barn. He has trialled at Doomben and can use an inside gate. He's good enough at best and the betting will be key. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Snitzond.
