Wollemia Angel has good early speed and can set a decent tempo. QUELLO DORATO (2) was well supported first up off a 10-month spell at Geelong and ran okay when midfield, beaten four lengths. He did show ability last time in and up in trip here with fitness improvement to come he can measure up strongly. FLOWERDALE (6) ran well on debut at Seymour over 1200m, sticking on for a narrow fourth. Better for that experience and finds a winnable race second time out. SMARTICON (3) has mixed his form this time in, beaten as favourite his past two. He's off a let-up for this and did run well fresh at Geelong. In the mix. WOLLEMIA ANGEL (9) struggled poorly as a $2.60 chance at Cranbourne but has ability and could bounce back. SOUTHAMPTON FLARE (4) is a lightly raced type who hasn't shown a whole lot to date but will be fitter off a first-up run and could improve quickly. SUGGESTED PLAY: Quello Dorato to win.
