Moderate pace with Phoenician rolling to the lead and setting the tempo. AVONBEG (9) found one better at Pakenham on debut and then went back and proved a difficult ride. She will be better for that and should enjoy the step up to a middle distance. Draws inside and will get every chance. MR BANNOCK (5) peaks for a top barn and can show more. She was well supported at Mornington last time and can get closer. BRYDAN (10) was a bit plainer at Geelong as favourite but was tracking well prior. Hard fit and deserves another chance. FILADEEL (12) is an improver from the premier stable, and Linda steers from the inside barrier. Has the first-time blinkers applied and is bred to relish this journey. OUTDRIVE (7) just missed a place at Kilmore over a mile and will be better for it. Draws awkwardly, but should be around the mark. SUGGESTED PLAY: Going with Avonbeg.
