Little in the way of tactical speed so a moderate tempo is likely. AMANOAH (7) made a pleasing return from a four-month spell last start over 1400m at Cranbourne, winding up from next to last to finish a close second. In the money second-up last prep over this distance at Ballarat after a less impressive first-up effort. Looks ready to win. I ONLY WISH (9) progressed nicely last time out at the second run of the campaign, working home late for a close fourth over 1400m at Cranbourne, around a length shy of Amanoah. Needs the mile at this stage of the prep so another big run is on the cards. ANTIQUUS (8) was impossible to miss on debut recently, launching from last on the bend to miss narrowly over 1406m at Benalla. Sure to prove tough to hold out over the extra furlong. TABOR (6) made a promising start to his career at Kyneton three weeks back, closing late for fourth over 1469m. Finds a nice race and should be competitive. HARRY DEVIL (2) gives the impression he needs this trip after a couple of plain efforts to date. SUGGESTED PLAY: Amanoah on top but there are a few promising types here with strong claims.
