Pigeon to take charge ahead of Go Barney Go at a strong tempo. VIERI (4) has been a beaten favourite in both of his starts here after making the move from a Sydney stable. He steps up an extra 100m this time and will be at his peak fitness. He may never pay back his million-dollar-plus price tag as a yearling, but he is surely capable of winning a maiden at short notice in this part of the world. FLY (2) was only beaten by a short-head in his first start since leaving Victoria earlier in the year. He strips fitter, and can go one better. ROSSANADO (9) is another import from Victoria, and she is having her first run in the area after a spell. She has the blinkers off for the first time, and can't be totally ruled out. A market watch is advised. GO BARNEY GO (1) has been trying to win a race for a long time. He ended his last prep with a brave effort for second when leading for a long way. He will continue to strengthen and is well worth including in all combinations. PIGEON (7) has the blinkers on for the first time. Stick with her. SUGGESTED PLAY: Vieri to win.
