Smokin' De Quo should have enough pace to lead a low-pressure contest.
THE CLAIMANT (2) worked home well without threatening to finish third last start in a BM62 over 2000m at the Gold Coast poly. Very fit gelding who gets in nicely after Newman's claim. Should handle the going and looks the one to beat in a thin race. SERENADE THE CAT (5) wasn't beaten all that far last time out in a Class 5 over 1640m at Doomben which is good form for a race of this quality. Four of her five wins have come on rain affected tracks. Major player. CASTEL TROSINO (4) found 1400m at Grafton way too short at his latest appearance so forget the run. Placed five from nine in wet conditions and he gets back up to a more suitable journey. TRAPEZE TORQUE (8) is fitter for two runs back from a break and will appreciate getting out over a bit more ground. THE HUNGARIAN (1) has been struggling but strips fitter and can sneak into the frame. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing The Claimant.
