A strong tempo is assured with the first starters applying pressure to the recognised on-pacers Senor Resfrio and Black Frost. BERRINGTON BLEW (3) showed good speed over 1200m last time but found one too good on the day. Her debut effort two starts back when fourth of 13 over this course and distance was encouraging. She has plenty of scope and she may find herself in the winner's enclosure. CAPTAIN'S PRIDE (4) stayed on well when third of nine over 1100m on this course last time. She is a progressive type and is one of the leading contenders. I'M A FIREBALL (12) is an unraced son of Vercingetorix from the Mike and Mathew de Kock stable with Kabelo Matsunyane in the saddle. If not in need of this outing, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to his chances. BLACK FROST (13) should have finished closer to the winner last time as he had to change ground for running room at the 250m mark. With a bit of luck in the running, he should be figuring in the finish.
