No obvious leader in a race that lacks much early pressure on paper. MUKTAMIL (4) made his Australian debut at Pakenham, well supported in the market on that occasion and running well, beaten a neck in third as the $2.40 favourite. Open to plenty of improvement and the rise to 1600m suits ideally. AKITU (1) made good improvement at his second outing at Werribee when just finding one better. Drawn to get back in the field but more ground suits and he should take holding out. CYCLONE CARA (10) ran a good race last start at Sale, working home well to grab second. Looks a solid each-way hope. RICH CURVES (13) is lightly raced and looks better suited coming back to a mile third-up. PALACE WINTER (5) next best. SUGGESTED PLAY: Muktamil to win.
