DJIBOUTI (10) has been trending the right way, following a solid fourth with an improved runner-up effort over 2060m at Wanganui nearly 5 weeks ago. This looks a suitable assignment, and she rates as the one to beat. MALLEABLE (2) has not been far away this prep and made up a lot of late ground when finishing fifth over 1600m at Te Aroha last start. The extra 400m is the key, and he has the ability to make his presence felt. ZORBA (6) showed promise on debut when finishing fourth over 2200m at Woodville and should have taken plenty of benefit from the experience. He has pace, and he can figure in the top 3 this time. DERRYMAN (1) continued his consistent form with a fighting third over 2100m at Hawera, beaten only half a length. His recent performances stack up strongly and he looks set to be competitive again, especially with a recent jumping trial win since that last run. SUGGESTED PLAY: Zorba each-way.
