Pace looks to be genuine with Alvin and Whatdoya Mean matching motors in advance of Great City and Summer Night. KILMER (6) trialled well and went close at Ararat on debut before placing this trip in stronger company at Ballarat. Maps for a soft run, and is well-placed to win. ALVIN (1) comes out of the same race and was plain. He was anything but prior when narrowly beaten at Bendigo, and may not have appreciated the wet track. Has an advantageous barrier and deserves another chance. FINAL BOY (3) was expected to go well at Bendigo and pulled up with an issue. He went close at Warrnambool the start before, when he rode the speed. That effort would have him in the finish. TRUE TEST (9) resumes, and Linda sticks with him. He has ability and has prepared well for his return. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Kilmer.
