Bleak Mid Winter should have enough pace to lead a low-pressure contest. BLEAK MID WINTER (7) has been a beaten favourite in 2 well-spaced starts this season and will be even stronger this year. He benefits from a 3kg claim and from a handy draw, he can take this out fresh up. Follow your money. EL EXPLOSIVO (9) is knocking on the door for his first win and was a solid fourth at Port Lincoln nearly 3 weeks ago. He is probably better suited to the sprint trips, and with the blinkers on for the first time, he should be the main threat to the top pick. LORD VALEN (3) has been trying to win a race for some time and found it a bit tough at Morphettville-Parks 7 weeks ago. He drops back to 1100m and will find this company more to his liking.
