RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE SOUTHEAST QLD QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1100m
Anticipating good pressure with many of these facing the starter for the first time. The babies kick us off. ZIA MARIA (7) did a fair job on debut last time out, finishing 1.3 lengths from the winner in fourth over 1200m at Ipswich. Can get off the mark this time. PROFITEUR'S FIL (1) wasn't far away on debut last start over 800m at Ipswich, finishing third and beaten a long neck. Open to sharp improvement and can play a role in the outcome. RUN LIKE A GIRL (5) was out of the money when resuming from a spell last start over 1110m at Doomben, beaten 4.5 lengths after being in contention on the turn. Won't find this as tough so she is a leading contender. ZOULINI (8) is a first-starter by Zousain out of Miss Milanese. Among the placings in recent Gold Coast trial. Keep very safe. SUGGESTED PLAY: Zia Maria to break the maiden status. |

CORNETTS SUPERMARKET Maiden Plate 1540m
Plenty of pace likely from Tszyuya, He Is The Kiss and Zayyano battling for the lead from Prize Witness. PRIZE WITNESS (9) drifted well back last start then wound up strongly to finish fourth, beaten 4.5 lengths, over 1700m at Ipswich. Well placed here and is the one to beat. The well-related ZAYYANO (4) (half to 2xG1 winner Grunt) showed good early dash last time out and led for most of the way before being claimed and finishing 0.6 lengths away in second over 1540m at this track. Will go forward and is expected to be in the finish again. HE IS THE KISS (1) finished just a nose from the winner in second last start over 1205m at Coffs Harbour after racing in the leading division. Finds the right race this time and can take the next step and salute. TSZYUYA (7) was beaten 0.9 lengths into second at Gold Coast two starts ago then finished 5 lengths from the winner in fifth last time at Doomben. Settles off the speed. Suited here and can sneak into the finish. SUGGESTED PLAY: Boxed Trifecta 9,4,1,7. |

GOLD COAST FAMILY ROOMS Maiden Plate 1150m
Expecting Hurkle Durkle to find the lead but there will be plenty of pressure over the sprint course. MILITARY LEGEND (10) first up from a spell of 11 weeks and having her first run on a synthetic track for a new stable. Last appeared fresh when fourth at Randwick Kensington over 1000m. Can launch this prep with a win. LILSISTERDON'TCHA (9) returns after four-and-a-half months in the paddock. Closed the last campaign with a seventh over 1200m at Beaudesert. No surprise if she was able to get off the mark. SIKKA (12) has started twice, running a good second on debut then finishing sixth, beaten 4.5 lengths, last time over 1100m at Toowoomba. The blinkers go on. Debut run was encouraging enough so she is worth another chance. Most interesting runner in the field is ex HK galloper FLYING AKEED (17). Showed nothing in eight career runs over there but won a Beaudesert trial in readiness for this. The Sunshine State and Hong Kong represent two extremely different environments for a horse. Could be a case of change is as good as a holiday. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Military Legend. |

WATT A RACE - MI ELECTRIC OPEN Handicap 1150m
Ready To Schipp is the probable leader in the small field. RALPHIE (3) progressed nicely last time out to finish just one length from the winner in third over 1100m at Ipswich. Finds an easier assignment and can find winning form. PARETO (4) finished 3.5 lengths behind the winner in ninth place when resuming over 1200m last start at Eagle Farm. Has a fair record when second-up, including two top-three finishes. Ready to find peak form this time. READY TO SCHIPP (2) is back at the races for the first time since January 10. Worth noting she filled a minor placing when returning from a spell last time in work over 1200m at Doomben. Worth plenty of thought while fresh. COUNT NICHOLAS (8) next elect off a last start win on the course proper here on May 2. SUGGESTED PLAY: Siding with Ralphie. |

RACE FOR ELLIE BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1900m
Arduous, Watermelon and Let's Do It Again will not hold back as they vie for the lead from Best Coffee and Gypsy Wish. The well-related HIGHGROVE ROSE (8) (half to G2 winner Not An Option) was well found in the betting last time out but could only manage to finish seventh over 1600m at Eagle Farm in a disappointing performance. Finds the right race this time and can turn things around. WATERMELON (1) was well fancied last time but could only manage second over 2000m at Sunshine Coast Poly after being well positioned to strike on the corner. Has won at this distance and a bold showing is expected. ARDUOUS (10) is on a quick turnaround after a solid second over 1800m at Sunshine Coast six days ago. Nice run last time and is among the winning hopes. LET'S DO IT AGAIN (3) next elect off a last start win at the Sunshine Coast. SUGGESTED PLAY: Boxed Trifecta 8,1,10,3. |

PULLMAN BRISBANE AIRPORT BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1050m
Keen speed battle, with Darn Hot Lady, Russian Pins and Cat Call prominent. DA SNOOP DOG (5) switches to synthetic for the first time. Form in two runs this campaign has been very good including a last start third, beaten 0.7 lengths, over 1000m on turf at Sunshine Coast. Commendable record at this trip with a win and three minor placings and is a key runner. STEFFI ELECTRICA (12) tackling the synthetic for the first time today on her return from a brief layoff. Kicked off the last campaign with a third at Lismore over 1120m. Well placed to make an impact straight away. MARATHIA (9) made progress last time out, finishing 2.25 lengths from the winner in third at the end of 1200m at Ipswich. Best figures measure up and is sure to run well. CAT CALL (14) fell just short of making all on the course proper here on May 2. Keep safe. SUGGESTED PLAY: With Da Snoop Dog. |

KDL PROPERTY GROUP RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1540m
Coco Jewel should find the front with Archers Reign and Cheerful Cat on her heels. CHEERFUL CAT (7) is close to breaking through after three consecutive placings, the latest coming when second over 1600m at Sunshine Coast Poly after being in the firing line all the way. Should enjoy a good run just off the speed. Best figures measure up and is sure to run well. ARTIFACTX (2) had been going okay but was safely held last start when sixth over 1600m at Gatton. Deserves another chance. HEADSTRONG (4) drops back in trip off a let up after a fading seventh at Ballina last start. Suspect 1400m to a mile is his sweet spot at least for now. The veteran ARCHERS REIGN (6) was prominent throughout at this class and distance on the course proper last fortnight. Include. SUGGESTED PLAY: Cheerful Cat to get a well-deserved victory. |

RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE SOUTHEAST QLD BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1540m
Aima Sun has good early speed and can set a decent tempo. Open race to close out the card. NOVEMBER AIR (4) scored at her most recent appearance, getting home by 1.4 lengths over 1600m at Sunshine Coast Poly as favourite. That continued the good form this campaign, with two wins and three minor placings from six starts. Can measure up again. SIR MAURICE (2) has progressed nicely in his last couple of runs. Finished third at Sunshine Coast two starts back then scored by a long neck last time out over 1350m at Ipswich. Has his share of ability and will prove hard to beat in this suitable race. AIMA SUN (12) struggled in the tougher company two back but last time did much better when a 3 length third at this track. Rates highly on best form and shouldn't be underestimated. NOTABADJACKUP (8) faded out of things first up over 1650m at Beaudesert when well in the market. Will at least derive fitness from the run. SUGGESTED PLAY: November Air to win again. |
