RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE SOUTHEAST QLD Maiden Plate 2240m
Strong tempo expected from Sorutal, Benzino and Moment. SECRET FENKEL (4) stuck on well last start to finish third over 1950m at Ipswich after showing good early speed. Placed to advantage so expect another forward showing from the favourable draw. DONATELLO (2) hasn't been far away lately including a last-start fourth over 1550m at Randwick Kensington. Extra trip a plus and rates among the main hopes. SHARK PARK (8) was in contention on the corner and ran a better race last start to finish a close second over 1900m at Gold Coast Poly after missing the placings at the previous appearance. Looks well placed so expect another big run. LUMINIZED (3) was allowed to drift back from an outside draw last time but found the line strongly to finish fifth, beaten 2.25 lengths, over 1950m at Ipswich. Warrants plenty of respect. SUGGESTED PLAY: Secret Fenkel to break the maiden status. |

CORNETTS SUPERMARKET QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1200m
Zia Maria should lead but there are a few other speedy types who can keep her honest. HELL OR HEAVEN (2) found the line nicely to grab second last time out over 1200m at Ipswich. Bold showing expected again with the blinkers added. FINAL CRUSADE (1) was well fancied last time and wasn't disgraced when second over 1100m at Toowoomba after being prominent at the corner. Worth another chance. PRIVATE MAX (3) closed off strongly last start to get up for third, beaten 0.8 lengths, over 1000m at Sunshine Coast on debut. Gets some weight relief with the claim and is sure to be thereabouts. PROFITEUR'S FIL (4) closed off strongly last start to get up for third, beaten a long neck, over 800m at Ipswich on debut. Will have taken benefit from that race day experience and has definite top-three prospects. SUGGESTED PLAY: Hell Or Heaven to go one better. |

GOLD COAST FAMILY ROOMS Maiden Handicap 1200m
Expecting Hurkle Durkle to set a genuine tempo after crossing from wide out. REGAL RINA (11) is a four-start maiden who finished fifth, beaten 4.5 lengths, when resuming from a spell last start over 1200m at this track. Strips fitter now and is capable of taking this out. TWO MINDS (1) finished second, beaten 1.3 lengths, over 1100m at Toowoomba on debut 11 months ago and has been kept under wraps since. Will be better for that race experience and another bold showing is on the cards. ARCTIC BRIGHT (10) has been freshened since finishing fourth over 1350m at Wyong. Kept up to the mark with a recent Doomben trial. Rates well on best form and a bold showing is expected. SIKKA (9) ran below expectations last start, finishing sixth and beaten 4.5 lengths at Toowoomba over 1100m. Worth another chance from the favourable draw. SUGGESTED PLAY: Boxed Trifecta 11,1,10,9. |

WATT A RACE - MI ELECTRIC OPEN Handicap 1200m
Muschialli and Capo Strada should set a strong tempo. BLUE SPINEL (4) was out of the money but in city grade last time at Eagle Farm and does go well at this venue. Respect the reliable Gollan/Lang combination. Will find this easier than last start and should prove very hard to hold out. CLOUDLAND (1) scored at Eagle Farm last time out with a nose to spare over today's journey. Goes well over this trip with five wins and three minor placings and can measure up. HIDDEN MELODY (3) scored two starts ago here then struggled against stiffer opposition last time when fifth over 1200m at this circuit, beaten 3 lengths. Can figure in the finish back in this company. MUSCHIALLI (5) showed good early speed and raced on the pace last start before fading to finish sixth, beaten 2.5 lengths, over 1000m at Eagle Farm. Sure to give backers a sight up on speed. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Blue Spinel. |

RACE FOR ELLIE RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 Handicap 1000m
Hot pace certain with Booya Boy, Past Midnight and Cat Call keen to take up the running. STEFFI ELECTRICA (8) returns after a spell of 11 weeks. Started the last campaign impressively when in the placings over 1120m at Lismore. Hasn't scored when fresh from a break but generally races well with three minor placings. Has ability and should be right in the finish. LENNYSTAR (10) missed the placings two runs back then didn't feature last start when 9 lengths away in seventh over 1260m at Ballina after being in the firing line on the bend. On her best form she is right in contention. DEEP STEALTH (7) has not appeared since she finished fourth over 1200m at Murwillumbah on December 12. One to consider. PAST MIDNIGHT (3) looked handy winning on debut and should be kept very safe. SUGGESTED PLAY: Steffi Electrica to salute. |

PULLMAN BRISBANE AIRPORT BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1800m
Expect a strong tempo with Arduous pressing on from an outside draw, with Watermelon nearby. PINK VIXEN (7) has been in the market at her last couple of runs but failed to threaten, the latest effort a modest fifth at Ipswich over 1350m. Where there's smoke there's fire and can improve enough to take this out. JUNE (4) disappointed last time when fifth over 2200m at Eagle Farm after a close third at Doomben the run prior. Looks better placed over this shorter trip so rates among the leading chances. BARAZIN (1) returned from a break last start with a moderate tenth over 1550m at Randwick Kensington after settling well back. This is an easier assignment and can get the job done. WATERMELON (3) continued the good recent form when he finished just a nose away in second last time out over 2000m at Sunshine Coast Poly. Has the gate speed to take up a forward position and shouldn't be underestimated. SUGGESTED PLAY: Boxed Trifecta 7,4,1,3. |

KDL PROPERTY GROUP Class 2 Plate 1800m
Diversity can work over from a wide draw to lead. HIGHGROVE ROSE (10) tackled city class latest when seventh at Eagle Farm, finishing 5.5 lengths from the winner. Will appreciate a drop in grade. Well placed so expecting a strong run. PINK VIXEN (9) has been in the market at her last couple of starts but hasn't made an impression, last start finishing fifth over 1350m at Ipswich. Rates highly in this line up and gets her chance. The well-related KAAZI (2) (half to 4xG1 winner Zaaki) missed the placings two runs back then was never in contention last start when 10 lengths away in eighth over 1800m at Randwick Kensington. Finds a much easier assignment and can take this out. KIRORO PEAK (3) ran a better race last start to finish a close second over 2200m at Eagle Farm after missing the placings at the previous appearance. No surprise to see him in the frame. SUGGESTED PLAY: Leaning towards Highgrove Rose. |

RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE SOUTHEAST QLD BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1400m
From the wide draw Vermeer can cross and set up a solid tempo. Open race to close out the card. GO MARO (9) stepped up in trip to 2020m last time at Doomben and ran below his best, finishing 4 lengths away in sixth. Kept fresh since that last run so he is right in this contest from the inside marble. GAMBINO (2) was out of the money when resuming from a spell last start over 1200m at Eagle Farm, beaten 3.5 lengths. This doesn't look as hard so he can turn things around. EVERY HEART (13) has been just out of the placings in two runs since a break, the latest when fifth, beaten 4.5 lengths, over 1350m at Ipswich after she was prominent at the bend. Has never been out of the placings at the third run in and looks the main danger. ARALETTA (6) progressed nicely last start to finish a close third over 1350m at Ipswich after missing the placings at the previous appearance. Has her share of talent and will prove hard to beat in this suitable race. SUGGESTED PLAY: Siding with Go Maro. |
