Jenharwill Cossar Farms Handicap 1500m
Just a moderate tempo given the absence of pacy gallopers. Couple of 2YO races to start the day, the first being a smaller field where all but two have raced. HEIWANA TAMASHI (4) and BAYOU MUSIC (2) come through the same race and there's no reason why Heiwana Tamashi can't again have the Godolphin colt's measure. Heiwana Tamashi raced in restricted room for much of the straight and while easily held by the winner, he was still able to beat home Bayou Magic, who seemed to have every chance. GABLE (1) is the only winner in the race and has already been tested in Stakes grade, albeit well-held, so certainly comes under consideration. DEKKA'S LATEST (3) is on debut and has looked sharp enough in jumpouts much shorter than the debut assignment, which can be considered a positive. AGGRESSIVE (5) will be better for the debut and suited out in trip. SUGGESTED PLAY: Heiwana Tamashi to win. |

Daryl Robertson Auto Electrical Maiden Plate 1100m
Many of these step out for the first time so a genuine tempo is expected. Tough race to assess with the only horses guaranteed a run all first-starters but some handy types among the emergencies. Chief among them is I'MATEEZ (13), the younger half-brother to former champion sprinter Imperatriz, who defied market expectations on debut at Sandown to only just miss. Reasonable to expect he will have benefitted greatly from that experience and the extra 100m suits. SIGNATURE SCENT (12) was a $1m ready-to-run 2YO and comes here off some soft jumpouts. EARTH'S ABUNDANCE (7) is with a stable who's had great results with 2YOs this season and has trialled well. Spirit Of Boom filly IDLEONBY (10) debuts for Team Hayes and must be kept safe. SUGGESTED PLAY: I'mateez to win. |

Nutrien Ag Solutions Maiden Plate 1600m
A solid tempo is on the cards with Coral Impact and Fifty Calibre pushing for the lead ahead of Zamparini Spirit and Harrata. VELLASMACHINE (9) was specked at big odds on debut - $71 into $31 - and turned in a performance that would have given connections great heart for starts to come. Was beaten less than 3 lengths and the runner-up, who was beaten 1.5 lengths, won impressively at Sale on Thursday. It looks the right form and the step up to 1600m looks a plus. FIFTY CALIBRE (4) will be better for the debut run at Pakenham, when he probably wasn't able to get rolling as early as the jockey would have liked. HARRATA (5) beat him home that day, but the barriers here might reverse that result. CORAL IMPACT (3) was pretty good either side of a plain run at Flemington when outclassed, so only needs to repeat those efforts to be a chance. ZAMPARINI SPIRIT (10) showed good improvement last start and should be ready to peak. SUGGESTED PLAY: Vellasmachine to win. |

Grogans Machinery 0 - 58 Handicap 1400m
From the wide draw Sweet Cheval can cross and set up a solid tempo. TOP HONOURS (3) can be considered the toughest to beat in what looks an open affair given he wasn't beaten fair last start at Seymour, which was only first-up, has drawn better here and will be suited by the step up in trip. MONT SAINT MICHEL (5) will be nearing peak fitness after two runs back, has also drawn well and will appreciate 1400m. SWEET CHEVAL (7) has a tricky wide gate to contend with but has a trial between runs and should be ready to show something like his best. FIRM AS A ROCK (12) only needs to repeat the encouraging first-up run to be a factor. MAWHERA (2) was run off his legs first-up but can improve up to 1400m second-up with the benefit of a jockey's claim. SUGGESTED PLAY: Top Honours to win. |

Kelly Partners 0 - 58 Handicap 1400m
From their wide draws Ze Bee Nine, Game Theory and Shooter Mcgavin should press hard to cross and take it up. The form of CHARITIES (8) doesn't read all that flash at first glance, but those recent starts have been in much tougher races than this. Hasn't been in 0-58 grade since the run at Stawell back in December, which he won, and he has drawn well here. TARTAN BELLE (7) made an encouraging return, is suited by the slight rise in trip and has drawn to get a soft run. KOWHAI (5) ran well at the first start for the new stable and while he has had a gap between runs, was kept up to the mark with a Kilmore trial. WRITTEN BY YOU (9) should be fitter after two runs back and is drawn well. SUGGESTED PLAY: Charities to win. |

Bendigo Ford BM64 Handicap 3600m
A solid tempo is anticipated with Holly's Star and Da Deputy kicking up to hold out the next wave. HOLLY'S STAR (10) has only won one of 14, but is still only four and might be finally maturing. This has always looked like the sort of trip that was going to suit her. Has an experienced rider with a light weight, which should offset the wide draw. EYES TO ME (9) has been racing consistently in lesser grade and might be ready to do something at this trip. SPLIT (3) is building in fitness an has placed in a trial since last seen. Draws well so can make an impact. SHADES OF SHERIFF (11) is a 30-start maiden but has placed 10 times and might be the value option for exotics players. SUGGESTED PLAY: Holly's Star to win. |

OSullivans Transport Elmore Cup 1600m
Altruist should have enough pace to lead a low-pressure contest. Main race of the day and DIDN'T MISS MANY (10) will find this easier than recent assignments. The four-length fifth at Listed level two back looks pretty good form and while well held by Taken last start, that horse came out and won easily at Flemington last weekend. DEELING ACES (12) did nothing wrong in the first campaign and while well-held first-up this time in, she improved last start and the winner from that race has since won again. QUITE THE LASS (11) is another dropping in grade and would be ever better suited with a bit of extra sting out of the track. LIGHTNING EXPRESS (1) got back into the winner's stall last time out in 64 grade and can certainly go on with it. PROMISED LAND (6) should be nearing peak fitness and is advantaged by the low draw. SUGGESTED PLAY: Didn't Miss Many each-way. |

Costerfield Antimony 0-58 Handicap 1100m
From the inside draw Shanghai Venture can boot up and control the tempo in a low-pressure contest. HIDDEN COMFORT (3) has been building to a win with a couple of third placings to start the campaign. This is a similar grade of race to what she has been racing, but she does look to have a little more upside than most of her rivals in this race. IMMINANCE (4) never featured first-up, but was much better last time out and is poised to return to be a key player here from a gun gate. DARCEANDERMILL (16) has been out of the winner's stall for a while but has been racing consistently and gets the chance to play a role from a nice alley. Speaking of alleys. DEEP JOY (10) is in good hands but has a horror gate to overcome. SUGGESTED PLAY: Hidden Comfort to win. |
