De Poet is the likely leader at a strong tempo. ELEGANT EMPRESS (6) drops back in grade with a weight hike but is proven in all conditions. Handy mare ideally placed back at provincial level. Has winning claims in a race that has been weakened by scratchings. KEV’S GIRL (4) is rock-hard fit and put in a brave effort in city mid-week company in latest. Back in trip and grade gets her chance here. OCTAVIAN TREASURE (8) made good progress to finish runner-up last start and should be hitting peak fitness third-up. Placed in both previous attempts at the track and trip and should enjoy a soft run from this draw. NO STATEMENT (1) is suited back to a track where the record is strong. SUGGESTED PLAY: Elegant Empress win. |

Anticipating a genuine tempo over the 1300m journey. LOUISBURGH (3) got rolled as a red-hot elect last start but both runs from a break have been genuine. Drawn an all options alley and third up at a longer trip can hit back. SOUND BANKER (9) showed immediate talent last campaign and two recent trials should have her up and about fresh. Real deal resuming. SATIN SPARKLE (8) has run her best races to date at provincial level. Drifted back and then held her own late in a city maiden last start. Pay to follow this time. AURA (7) has raced just once and did a good job to place back in February. Likely to have developed with maturity and was readied with two trials. SUGGESTED PLAY: Louisburgh win. |

Genuine tempo with Purple Rose leading the way. DOLLARS (3) produced two better efforts over the summer and comes off a slick lead-up trial. All set to box on late here. TAWFIQ TOM (5) has been creeping up to a win of late and pushed home hard at this track and trip late last time. With an all-options draw gets his chance. JEWEL COUNTY (4) hasn’t been fully exposed yet, coming via just one race start. Slightly up in trip after a recent stick-on trial is a keep-safe play. PURPLE ROSE (7) looks best of the rest after two improved showings of late in moderate company. SUGGESTED PLAY: Dollars straight out. |

Small field in which Mostro can find the front comfortably at a moderate tempo. TANGO QUEEN (11) boxed on bravely at the same trip last time out and looks a real winter style of horse. Massive appeal with a low draw and less weight in play. HOMERIC (7) delivered a progressive maiden win last start at a similar trip. Faces a stiffer test now but overall record is the right reading. In the mix again. The lone career win of MOSTRO (2) came at this distance. Expect he will be ready to fire first up. MORNINGTON PIER (1) has a good record here and has been readied with a couple of trials so keep safe. SUGGESTED PLAY: Tango Queen win. |

Powerful Peg to find the front in the small field. OAKFIELD DUKE (3) tried hard with the grandstand for company first up. A soft track is ideal and the all-options draw adds appeal. Profiles as a genuine chance now. PRESIDES (5) is holding his form stoutly and has dodged wet tracks in recent weeks. Perfectly drawn in a grade that suits. Rarely lets followers down. POWERFUL PEG (4) will be fitter for two city runs since a spell. Races well third up and draws to show more.

Cardi Bee and Tonkatsu Goddess to take up the running at a genuine tempo. ISLA NEGRA (8) had exposed provincial form last time in and trialled well recently behind a subsequent race day winner. Senior rider sets the tone. Makes appeal on an each way basis. STARPHISTOCATED (6) is headed for longer trips but looks on song for a first-up tilt after a smart trial effort recently. Expect a string fresh showing. CALIFORNIA SECRET (5) arrived from another postcode to win in country grade first up. Harder here but race fitness a big plus. CARDI BEE (3) is lightly-raced but showed promise in NZ, winning when last seen. Could make an immediate impact on this side of the Tasman. SUGGESTED PLAY: Isla Negra each way. |
