NUM TIME COMMENT
1 11:59 PRINCE OF WALES HOTEL PLATE 1000m
Genuine tempo with Baby Pearl leading the way. PURE EXCESS (7) jumped favourite on debut down the Pinjarra Straight and flew home, beaten 0.7L over this trip. She maps for a much better run this time around with Pike remaining in the saddle. Looks right up to the mark and with improvement expected, she can get the job done this time. BABY PEARL (2) has shown plenty in his two runs to begin his career, just tiring from up on the speed first-up a fortnight ago. That figure puts holds him in good stead however with improvement expected now. Can roll to the font and give his rivals something to chase. AWESOME FORCE (3) is on debut for the Ross Price stable and has shown good signs at the trials coming into this. Maps for a kind run under Azzopardi and can feature on debut. Brad Parnham rides CAPE LEEUWIN (4) instead of Awesome Force which is worth noting. Was sharp in a 400m trial recently and has to be included. SHAQADAKTAL (5) was very good in a recent Lark Hill hit out and is not to be discounted.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Pure Excess makes plenty of appeal.
2 12:34 DONNYBROOK GLASS HANDICAP 1000m
Desert Whisper is the likely leader at a strong tempo. MY HIDDEN UNIVERSE (5) returned from a long break with an impressive victory at Belmont, sitting close to the speed and putting his rivals away with ease. He'll be better again for that effort and while this is tougher, he looks an above-average galloper. Can make it five wins in-a-row. PROSPECTOR'S PICK (3) sat back last time and got the job done right on the wire, scoring in a photo finish as favourite down the Pinjarra straight. The nose roll is applied now and the wide draw doesn't hurt with his adaptability. Can go back-to-back if he runs up to his last-start figure. SONGAA (2) was a good winner first-up last campaign in this grade and shapes similarly this time in. He'll be fitter for two trials and he does have some strong ratings next to his name. Can resume on a winning note. DESERT WHISPER (7) has been gunned down late to begin this campaign, but should be at her peak now. SUPERNATURAL (8) got the job done fresh and can continue to improve through the grades.  SUGGESTED PLAY: My Hidden Universe can extend his winning streak.
3 01:11 TABTOUCH WESTSPEED PLATINUM HANDICAP 1690m
Moderate tempo with Heaps Of Moolah leading the way and a few others keeping in touch. ROYAL GAP (3) has been solid this campaign and was strong from the back at Pinjarra in a 100k race last time out. He was right in the market to begin this campaign and Faithfull knows him well. He could be back in the run, but if he runs up to recent figures he'll be flying late in the race. ASPHALT (2) just missed in maiden company last start but turned in a solid rating in the process. The rise in trip doesn't seem an issue and the in-form Parnham sticks. Maps for a lovely run once again and is expected to put himself right in the finish. YALLINGUP GIRL (9) flew home from the back over 1400m at this track last time out when right down in the weights. She now gets Parnham replacing the apprentice hoop and out to the mile looks a big tick. Wouldn't surprise to see her go to another level now. SHEEZA SHEILA (5) bolted in two back before a disappointing run last time out. Can get back to form with a change in gear. WHY ME (1) can improve sharply third-up and out in distance.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Royal Gap looks the one to beat.
4 01:49 GREENFIELDS LODGE HANDICAP 1690m
Decent sized field but it lacks any obvious pace. FIRST ENCOUNTER (7) is trending the right way, storming home in the WA Day Cup at Northam to finish 1.8L off the winner. He's trending back to his best after a long time off and he's a third-up winner in the past. Fitter again now and he can return to winning ways in this suitable race. DUN WITH THE BLUES (3) can dip second-up in her career, but she was tested in Listed company last prep when second-up. She was a very impressive winner first-up at Pinjarra a fortnight ago and Pike remains in the saddle. She maps for a similar run this time around and can repeat the dose. CAMERA ACTION (6) couldn't run down Dun With The Blues last start at Pinjarra and is likely to be back in the run again. Up to the mile for the first time now which doesn't look an issue and it wouldn't be surprise if she turned the tables. TON OF GRUNT (12) was very good in the WA Day Cup and should be flying late yet again. FAMOUS DAIN (10) is better than we saw last start and has claims despite being back in trip.  SUGGESTED PLAY: First Encounter looks set to return to winning ways.
5 02:40 WITTENS IRRIGATION & DESIGN HANDICAP 1200m
A keen pace battle assured Estimator prominent, joined by Teabiscuit and Sure Thing. CLOSE TALKER (7) is knocking on the door this time in, finishing 1.5L off the winner most recently at Pinjarra. She drops in trip this time around and the blinkers go on for the first time today with Pike sticking in the saddle. She was favourite there and she ticks plenty of boxes heading into this. MASAMUNE (1) was 1.1L off a smart winner last start at Belmont and the rise in trip looks ideal. Parnham will need some luck from the draw, but he's racing in strong order and he's expected to be right there at the finish. SURE THING (4) is winning well at Kalgoorlie his past couple and will give them something to chase. BORDER FORCE (2) can run a bold race first-up with some trials under his belt.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Close Talker can get the job done this time.
6 03:15 SWAN DRAUGHT HANDICAP 1400m
Fast tempo likely from Mt Shirataku going forward from out wide, with Looks joining in. MT SHIRATAKU (8) is a very exciting gelding on the rise, bolting in after leading last start as a $1.65 pop at Pinjarra. This is tougher, but he's a well above-average galloper and he looks to have some adaptability about him. Pike sticks and he can bring up the winning hat-trick as he continues through the grades. SIMPLY THINKIN' (5) scored a good win at Northam 10 days ago when running over the top to win comfortably as an odds-on chance. This looks to shape similarly under Azzopardi and if she can run up to her recent figures, she'll go close to winning. MORE THAN ENUFF (7) won fresh without a trial in March and backed up that effort at Ascot 87 days ago. The wide draw may pose an issue, but if he can pick up where he left off, he'll be right in the finish. RALLY THE TROOPS (9) can make it three wins in-a-row if he can run up to his recent figures. IDEALLY (13) was very impressive last start and can feature despite being back in trip.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Mt Shirataku can go on with the job.
7 03:49 RACONTEUR STAKES 1400m
A solid tempo on the cards with God's Gate taking charge. STORYVILLE (2) was very good despite the finishing result first-up, being buried away last and along the inside and navigating her way through traffic late. She ran strong splits there and this looks to set up superbly despite the conditions of the race. She's the best horse in the race and can get back to winning ways. OPPORTUNISTIC (11) should be shorter in the market based off the debut win at Pinjarra. He's been gelded since that run and he looks open to plenty of improvement with CJP in the saddle. Looks up to this grade and can put his best foot forward. WIND AND THE LION (1) carried the big weight last start in an Open 3YO race and was beaten 1.3L at Pinjarra. He was strong up to 1400m last campaign and while he has drawn wide, he is an adaptable type. Can be right in the finish again. POND MASTER (4) beat home Wind And The Lion last start and has to be included on that effort alone. ELITE MISSILE (3) was too good last start beating Pond Master and won't be far away.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Storyville looks the one to beat.
8 04:23 NIXON ELECTRICAL HANDICAP 1200m
Richanco and Decoration can be prominent. DRAKAINA (14) got the job done 17 days ago when too good at Pinjarra, sitting up on the speed and winning by 0.5L. That form has already been franked and while this is tougher, she ticks plenty of boxes from the inside gate. Can sit close to the speed and will be hard to gun down again. RICHANCO (1) made it three on-end in fine style down the Pinjarra straight and now rises to 1200m. The rise in trip is no issue as he's won 3/5 there and the inside barrier is a big tick for him. Will give a bold sight again and four-in-a-row wouldn't surprise. AHYEAHRIGHTO (10) missed last start as favourite behind Drakaina following some strong figures in his runs prior. The wide draw is a little niggle but he's racing in top order and his last start SP is worth noting. Has to be included. SUNNY HONEY (12) just missed last start and has claims third-up and on the quick back-up. KEEP ITA MYSTERY (6) was right there with Drakaina last start and is not to be discounted.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Siding with Drakaina in the last.
