Genuine pace with Gulf Of Gabes finding the front but it won't be a picnic with a few other speedy types engaged. GOLD SMILES (11) put the writing on the wall at Armidale last Saturday when he chimed in late to finish third over 1100m. That run followed a five-week let-up so he will derive great benefit. Up to a more suitable trip now and drops 3kgs so he has all bases covered. POWER BEAU (2) missed by a whisker over 1300m here two runs back then had a 53-day break before finishing midfield over this trip at Tamworth last start. Freshened up again and is right in the mix. GULF OF GABES (9) has been lumping big weights at the non-tabs and picnics. Struggled last Saturday at Mudgee in a BM50 over this distance but with some relief today he can improve. DA NOIVE (6) just missed in a Class 1 at Coonabarabran on Sunday. Draws a lot closer today so keep him very safe. FLYING BANJO (1) is fitter for two runs back from a spell and has plenty to offer. SUGGESTED PLAY: Confident Gold Smiles can run a big race at a good price.
