Fast pace assured with The Defiant One, Za Hidden Dragon and California Spell leading the charge. THE LUPERCAL (8) ran a bold second over 1200m at Coffs Harbour two runs back then blew the start and did well to finish less than two lengths from the winner last time over 1100m at Armidale. This trip is new to him but he should race handy and prove tough to beat. ARDONAUGH (9) backs up four days after a moderate sixth over 1100m at Quirindi. Gets a lovely run from gate one and should be there at the business end. Distance specialist TAKANAKUY (1) struggled in a better race than this at Muswellbrook last time out. Fitter for two runs back from a spell so from a nice draw she should play a big role. SACRED DELAGO (7) was a bit plain in a similar race to this at Scone last Friday but he is capable of a lot better. ORDER OF MERIT (5) is back from an eleven-month spell. Opened last prep with an impressive win at Warren so he cannot be overlooked. SUGGESTED PLAY: Keen on The Lupercal.
