Slick tempo to be established by Heza Charmer and Gunmetal. POWERFUL EAGLE (2) backed up a strong second two back at Ipswich with a game win under 61kgs over 1400m at Stanthorpe last start. Consistent gelding who doesn't meet a deep field today so he can get the job done again. GUNMETAL (5) was five weeks between runs when he led but tired late over 1300m at Armidale last Saturday. Strips fitter and looks ready to tackle the mile for the first time. SUIT DAY (4) had a let-up before his last start eighth over this distance at Grafton. Needed that hit-out and with 4.5kgs less today after the allowance he comes right into contention. HALLOWED SON (6) is fitter for recent racing and will appreciate the step up in distance. PACIFIC WARRIOR (3) has a top three strike-rate of 50% at the mile. Going well and must be considered. SUGGESTED PLAY: Powerful Eagle to score again.
