Strong early tempo assured with Aussenkehr, Zinovi and Tsar Bomba locking horns. MID WINTER WIND (5) is a winner of his last three starts, the latest of which was recorded over 1400m on the Standside course. It must be noted that the horse that finished second in his last start has come out and won since. Jumping from the inside gate he should be winning again. KARANGETANG (2) showed good improvement in his last start over 1000m on the Vaal Classic course when finishing second of eight. He returns from a spell which would have done him the world of good. He has won fresh-up previously and has solid each-way claims. AUSSENKEHR (1) was disappointing in his last start over 1000m, finishing seventh of nine. He has won once and finished third twice from as many starts on this course. Calvin Habib retains the ride and on best form shown he can finish in the money. TSAR BOMBA (4) won his last start over this course and distance. He has won twice and finished third five times from as many starts over this course and distance. Rates well as a leading player.
