Solid tempo with Thunder Pace to lead but under plenty of pressure in a keen early contest. AWESOME LINEUP (2) was second-up from a spell and 39 days between runs when a decent fifth over 1412m at Benalla last start. Handy country galloper who has started over this trip once for a win. Strips fitter and a great chance to double his win tally. SLATE RIPPER (7) is racing well without winning. Came home late in his usual manner to get up for a close fourth last time out over the mile at Wagga. Back sharply in trip but with a solid tempo up front he can finish right over the top. HAATHER (11) turned in another poor effort recently when down the track at Berrigan. Those failures have been at 1600m - his last appearance at a shorter trip saw him beaten under a length at Pakenham synthetic. Can return to form without surprising. LEICA TROOPER (5) resumes. Not a noted first-up performer but he has placed 2/4 at this trip so must be considered. On-pacer MAHJING (9) is racing well and looks an each-way hope. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Awesome Lineup.
