Genuine tempo with Sonar leading the way. SINGLETARY (3) made progress in 2 starts earlier in the season at Ellerslie, and he has been tuned up for this with a recent trial at Foxton. He cops a tricky gate, but he is right up to winning this fresh. SONAR (1) fought on gamely to score on debut by a nose at Te Aroha nearly 3 weeks ago. He is drawn to receive the run of the race, and he is sure to be very competitive again. BACK OF THE BUS (4) won a nice race at Ellerslie in her penultimate start, and then was a game third in the Castletown Stakes here 15 days ago. She has a fitness edge over her rivals, and is well placed to take this out. MIDNIGHT DART (2) is a promising type who hasn't raced since finishing a fair fifth over 1200m at Waverley on May 9. Fitter for a recent trial at Foxton. A heavy track has him right in the finish here. O'BABY (5) resumes from a spell, and she would only have to run up to her debut winning effort at Woodville to be a solid each-way chance in this. SUGGESTED PLAY: Singletary can win this at good odds.
