Tricky one to map with a large contingent of first starters but over this trip there is certain to be plenty of early pressure. Another decent midweek maiden. Waller has a strong hand, headed by MERGEILA (6) who has not raced since finishing a close third to the smart Mayfair over 1200m at Rosehill on 20 July. Trialled since and McDonald takes over. Must go on top. EXCELINDEED (1) looks the big threat. Started at $1.25 but had every chance and found one better when resuming over 1200m at Wyong 17 days ago. Placed twice in town last prep and can improve on the first-up run with blinkers going on for the first time. INDECISIVE (12) worked home well without threatening last time out in a 1200m Newcastle maiden. Very fit now and makes each-way appeal with the light weight. ESPINHO (3) resumes. Has raced just twice, both times at stakes level, and finished midfield on each occasion. Chance coming back in grade. The only other realistic hope is NORTHERN EAGLE (4) on debut for Ryan/Alexiou - his trials have been impressive. SUGGESTED PLAY: Mergeila to win.
