WELCOME TO CHAMPIONS DAY MAIDEN PLATE 1400m
ONE OF THOSE DAYS (1) was beaten just a long neck last start when fresh from a spell and landed his first top-three finish in the process at Turffontein Inside over 1450m. Looks close to a win. PROPER (6) has not raced since his debut back on November 29 when he finished 12th over 1160m at this track. Comes through a hot form race on debut and returns in much easier. Likely to play a major role. LANCE ALOT (4) did little and finished 7 lengths from the winner in seventh over 1800m at Turffontein Inside last start, a less impressive effort than his fifth at Turffontein Inside the run before. Best figures measure up nicely. Sure to run well. MILLENNIUM WARRIOR (3) is close to a win. Should go well. |

The top three from the Aquanaut Handicap line up again. ENFLAME (7) ran third and is the better served at the weights. Won only try course and distance and expected to go close on recent top form. DAIMYO (3) won the Aquanaut with authority and has a strong record here. Down in weight and can get the job done again. ALADDIN'S LAMP (2) split that pair last time and meets the winner better at the weights. Sure to be in the finish again on top record this circuit. POETS WARRIOR (1) was far too good last time and will take catching again. |

Strong race. ONE EYE ON VEGAS (8) turned in a strong run when fourth in the G1 SA Classic at this track over 1800m. Form over this journey is strong, boasting two wins from four starts. Faces a much easier essay this time. Sure to be there at the finish. TEXAS RED (4) has been thereabouts lately without being able to break through, the latest effort a third in the G1 Horse Chestnut Stakes at this track over 1600m. Sound record at this distance with four wins and six minor placings from 15 runs and is a leading contender. MAIN DEFENDER (2) has been below best form in two runs so far this campaign, the latest when fifth beaten by 5.5 lengths in the G1 Horse Chestnut Stakes at this track. Superb record course and distance with five wins and a placing from sux starts. Drops in grade and expected to go very well. CATS PAJAMAS (3) returns after a spell of ten weeks. Started the last campaign impressively when in the placings over 1200m at Greyville. One to consider. |

Terrific race. BUFFALO STORM CODY (1) looks a top chance. Has won five of last six and is a Grade 1 winning sprinter. Loves this circuit and will go close. KINGDUNDEE (2) boasts a top strike-rate winning eight of 11 starts. Grade 1 winner latest and looks set to go close again. Tackling a deeper field this time but he is capable of running a bold race. TAXI TO THE MOON (5) had been in top form landing two consecutive wins but last start was just edged out when runner-up over 1000m at this track. |

TAB SA DERBY 2450m
The talented filly CURIOUS GIRL (13) continued a hot streak of form, winning over 2000m at this track last start to make it three straight. Far too good last time out winning by a space but suspect she is tackling the boys here to avoid Hazy Lazy in the Oaks. Will take beating again. TEXAS MISSILE (5) is racing well and is close to a win, the latest effort a solid second in Listed grade at this track over 2000m behind Diogenes. Stepping up a level this time but looks suited by the extra ground and can turn the tables. DIOGENES (10) was too good for many of these last time and is shooting for a winning hat-trick. Has a high cruising speed and will go close again. RADIO STAR (1) is better than last run and should go well in this line up. |

The top filly HAZY DAZY (1) beat the majority of these last time. Won the Gauteng Guineas fresh then the G1 SA Fillies Classic at this track over 1800m latest. Better than that and looks suited by the longer journey this time. Sure to play a big role. LITTLEMISSMILLION (4) finished 3 lengths away in fifth behind Hazy Dazy latest. Steps up in distance today. Leading hope. DAISY JONES (3) produced a better run last start, beaten 2.5 lengths into fourth in the same race. Best efforts measure up so worth another chance. |

CHAMPIONSHIP FINALE 25 APRIL MR 74 APPRENTICE HANDICAP 1400m
KAMBATI (4) is in top form, most recently recording a win by 0.6 lengths over 1450m at Turffontein Inside to make it two in a row. Has good early toe so he should be handy in the run. Will prove tough to beat. MONKEY PUZZLE (1) improved sharply on his sixth two starts back at this track with success over 1450m at Vaal two months ago, getting home by half a length after being prominent at the corner. Suitably placed so anticipating another big run. ZIP CODE (2) was out of the money two runs back then again missed the frame last start over 1450m at Turffontein Inside, beaten 5 lengths into fourth. Has the ability to put the recent run of form behind him. OKLAHOMA SMOKESHOW (3) turned in a fine effort to win by 4.5 lengths two back here then was runner-up at Vaal a couple of days ago. On the quick back-up but racing well and among the main chances. |
