RED LABEL (2) built her form strongly when scoring by 5 lengths to clear her maiden status at Ashburton 6 days ago. The quick backup is a good sign, and she can repeat the dose. PATSY SPIRIT (3) is also backing up from an average run at Ashburton 6 days ago, but he needed that run, and from a better draw with the aid of a 3kg claim, he can turn it all around and win this. LADY GEORGIANA (9) ran a better race against a similar field at Ashburton and will put herself in a handy spot early on here. Stick with her on an each-way basis. ELEGANT EXPLOSIVE (4) shows pace and has fought on gamely for third in her last couple of starts after leading until the final straight. She cops a wide gate, but can't be ruled out, especially if she can cross over to the fence without using up too much energy. MISS EMERALD (5) comes out of the same race as the top 3 picks, and was runner-up that day. Her task is harder this time from a tougher gate, but she is also worth including in all top four combos. SUGGESTED PLAY: Patsy Spirit can take this out at some value.
