Moderate tempo with Scottish Laird leading the way and a few others keeping in touch. The feature of the day now and PLATINUM SHOT (7) looks the one to beat. She was impressive two back at Northam before getting a long way back and flashing late at Bunbury most recently. Now draws a better gate this time and her recent figures stack up as she drops in weight. Can return to the winner's circle. CLOSE AT HAND (6) just missed last start when back to 1300m after posting back-to-back wins at this track and trip prior. He'll be right on the speed from a good gate and there's no reason why he can't bounce back to winning ways. INFLUENCING (4) hasn't been at his best for a little while, though this looks a big drop in grade today. The claim helps, as does the inside alley, and it wouldn't surprise to see him turn his form around. FEUDING (9) is racing in top order and has claims despite dropping back in trip. GALAXY AFFAIR (3) is not to be discounted after a good effort here last time out. SUGGESTED PLAY: Platinum Shot is the one to beat in the feature.
