Insufficient early speed to generate more than a muddling tempo.
HOTZINO (5) settled midfield then let down nicely to score with a bit in hand last start in this grade over 1400m at Grafton. Kept fresh since that run 26 days ago. Draws the fence and should be right there at the business end once again. MASTER ARTIST (2) comfortably won his maiden two back over 1175m at Grafton then struggled at the Gold Coast last time when he stayed at six furlongs. Looking for this sort of trip so in a race that lacks depth he gets his chance. MISS MADIGAN (10) came from a mile back to salute in good fashion in a 1000m Kempsey maiden recently. Tougher assignment today but getting out to this trip should see her run well again. VETOED (7) failed to feature at the Gold Coast last start, the victim of a terrible barrier. Draws better this time and in an ordinary line-up she should play a role. CASTEL TROSINO (4) has placed two from four when fresh so is worth considering off a three-month spell. SUGGESTED PLAY: Hotzino looks the right way to go.
