Good tempo anticipated with Perfect Pete and Possess leading the way.
PERFECT PETE (2) made up some ground and, after looking likely at the top of the straight at Waverley, he peaked late on his effort, finishing fourth. He has had some gear changes since then and will be tighter in condition now. On top here. BREADWINNER (6) resumed with a strong finishing third in the same race as the top pick. She steps up to a mile, and with a senior hoop replacing an apprentice, she can go close to taking this out. POSSESS (4) battled on fairly when finishing fourth at Awapuni on the poly track there just over 5 weeks ago. He has been back to the trials and finished second since then, and with the advantage of the pole position, he is ready to figure in the top 3. NEW YORK BELLE (10) plugged away bravely for a midfield finish at Waverley just over a fortnight ago, and will continue to improve as she steps out over more ground. Craig Grylls sticks with her, and so do we. ROADHOUSE BLUES (5) is a 6-year-old gelding making his debut. Let the market be your guide. SUGGESTED PLAY: Perfect Pete can get the job done this time.
