GOING: S(5)

Vale Frank Barber Maiden Plate 1112m

Track: SOFT 5   Rain (Max: 20)   Rail: Out 3m 500m - 1400m, Out 5m Remainder. (Pent: 5.83)

Chicago Blues is the likely leader at a keen tempo. CATWALK ICON (5) was unplaced on debut then last start finished second over 1200m at Ballarat. Will be better for those outings and has the ability to take care of this field. DONATO (3) made an encouraging debut last time out, finishing a nose from the winner in second over 1100m at Tatura. Can get off the mark this time. CHICAGO BLUES (2) didn't do a lot on debut, when fifth, beaten 6 lengths, but comes into this with a couple of jumpout wins under his belt so an improved effort looks assured. HEGELY (8) is a two-start maiden who returned last time and finished fourth at Bendigo over 1000m, beaten 1.3 lengths. Bold showing expected with added fitness this time. SUGGESTED PLAY: Catwalk Icon to win.

Was well-supported at debut, 6th of 9 at Sale Mdn-Sw on October 8 over 1112m, 5.5 len behind Bajaria with 57kg at $2.50. Disappointing on debut when well-backed, but had trialled well prior to giving one more chance.

Debut was nothing to write home about but two recent jumpout wins suggest significant improvement looming.

When well in the market at debut, 4th in a small field at Bendigo 3yo F Mdn-Sw on August 28 over 1100m, on heavy track; 4 len behind Eco Force with 57kg at $3.50. Last start came from midfield; 2nd of 10 at Ballarat 3yo F Mdn-Sw on September 19 over 1200m, 0.5 len behind Gisella carrying 57kg at $3.20. Fair debut then only found one better last start in a better race than this when well-supported, so looks ready to break through.
