NUM TIME COMMENT
1 11:30 MORE FM MDN 1600M 1600m
Solid tempo anticipated with Bax Factor and Quisiera pressing forward with Captain Davo not far away. QUISIERA (12) seems like she will never win a race after finishing runner-up so often, including her last run when beaten by a nose at Ashburton. A wide draw here will ensure she stays out of trouble early on, and this is her time to shine. PERFECT TYCOON (2) hit the line strongly to finish second by less than a length here 18 days ago. He has an extra 100m to travel this time and is the main threat to the top pick. JAIL BIRD (9) caught the eye with a big finish for second on debut and will only improve with more racing. She won't be at long odds this time, and another top 3 finish is likely. SILVER LINING (11) did not fire at Riccarton last start but will find this easier. Bruno Queiroz rides.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Quisiera should win this.
2 12:05 THE NED MDN 1400M 1400m
First Eminent and Jikon to take up the running at a strong tempo. PONTOON (6) was outclassed at G3 level last time out at Ashburton just over 3 weeks ago. He is capable of finishing in the top 3 with a return to his rightful maiden grade. VENETIAN (11) showed ability when trained in the North Island and has found a soft option for her Southern debut. Watch the market moves closely. CHINO'S BOY (7) will be making his debut from the powerful Parsons stable and has the benefit of a 3kg claim. A wet track won't bother him, and any market confidence is worth following up. AUTUMN BREEZE (1) finished third in his South Island debut. He strips fitter, and has each-way claims.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Chino's Boy if he is ready, can win this.

Complicate is likely to roll to the lead and set a decent tempo. STOLEN MAGIC (2) found the company in the Listed Spring Classic at Riccarton a bit tough, and is much better placed in this company. He has won twice over this trip, and with the aid of a 2kg claim, he is the one to beat. ALLIBOR (5) will be peaking third up, and will relish getting out to 2200m for the first time since relocating to New Zealand. A wide draw won't hinder him, and he can figure in the top 3. I HOPE I NEVER (8) made the most of a clever ride when rushing around to lead mid-race at Gore last time out, and holding on to win by a neck. She drops 4kg, and can measure up here as well. COMPLICATE (3) steps up in trip and will be peaking third up from a spell. A form reversal is on the cards.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Stolen Magic to win this, and Allibor to show something at odds.
4 01:08 SPEIGHTS MDN 1200M 1200m
Clancy has good early speed and can set a decent tempo. LUCKY FERRANDO (4) has been freshened since finishing eighth at Trentham just over 6 weeks ago, when racing on the pace. He has a superior draw this time and can secure the run of the race early on. On top for us. WHIRLPOOL (14) is on debut from the local Anderton stable. She would no doubt have been to the local jumpouts, and with Kylie Williams in the irons, it usually means they mean business. Watch the market closely. ELUSIVE (5) fought on gamely to finish fourth when making his debut here 18 days ago. He will naturally improve with more racing, and on his home track, he is well worth including in all combinations. CLANCY (3) was above himself on debut and let the occasion get the better of him, finishing fifth. He was well-found in the market that day and is worth another chance.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Whirlpool if the money comes for her.
5 01:50 PROPERTY BROKERS - RAY KEAN R75 1200M 1200m
Speed assured from Rochello, Flash Roca and Bucks Night pressing on ahead of Radiant Lass.  NO PARTY (7) is a very promising local gelding who was too good as the favourite here 18 days ago, scoring by nearly 2 lengths in BM65 grade. There is more depth to this field, but he drops 3kg and has the scope to win again. MOVE ON (6) is a stablemate of the top pick and was only beaten by a head here at this level last start after picking up a lot of late ground. He is likely to settle back here as well, but if the pace is on, then he can have the last say. FLASH ROCA (8) finished fourth against most of these when resuming from a spell, and she will only improve with more racing. The winkers go on, and she is an each-way threat. PENVOSE LAD (2) has changed stables, and if not in need of the run, he is more than capable of having a say in the outcome of this even contest. THE CLUSTER (4) is a handy veteran resuming from a spell, and his track record is strong. This trip is well short of his best but Dan Bothamley only rides when it is worth it, so read into that what you like.  SUGGESTED PLAY: No Party is headed for better things.
6 02:31 DAKOTA BOUTIQUE + LIFESTYLE R65 1200M 1200m
Great Time and Sailor Girl can be prominent.  SABRINA HALL (10) has recently joined the Joe Waldron stable from the North Island and will have the services of Bruno Queiroz. A wide draw will ensure she stays out of trouble early on, and the market will be the best guide, because if ready, she wins this. AMERICAN CHEVAL (12) resumes from a spell that would have done her the world of good. She would have been to the local jumpouts in the area, and from the pole position, she has each-way claims. MR JINGLES (4) followed up an easy fresh-up win at Gore with a tidy third here last time out. He cops a tougher draw this time, but is in a good space, and is likely to be thereabouts again. Include. PROCLAMATION (3) ended his last prep on a winning note at Oamaru and will be even stronger this season. A wet track suits him, and he is another worth watching in the market. GREAT TIME (7) was a beaten favourite at Gore fresh up on a bog track. She is worth another chance. Follow your money. JESSIE JAY (9) can't be ruled out second up.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Sabrina Hall can win this fresh up.
7 03:11 OTAGO ENGINEERING R65 1400M 1400m
Looks to be plenty of pace with Generation Joy and Cockahoop battling for the lead.  STOUT (2) was not far away, fresh up at Ashburton, and is drawn once again to receive the run of the race early on. The winkers go on and back to his home track; he is the one to beat. GENERATION JOY (8) is a stablemate of the top pick who usually needs a run before hitting his straps. He cops a wide gate, but if right, he can figure in the top 3. BELARDO ACE (9) lacked some strength as a 3-year-old but still managed to win a maiden on a good track here in February. The blinkers are off for his return, and with this stable, it is all about the market moves. Watch closely. CUPID'S ARROW (12) has relocated from the North Island, where she showed enough ability to suggest that she can pick up another win at short notice. Once again, watch the market. YOO HOO JOY (14) was an impressive maiden winner here 18 days ago and is bred to go on with the job. She will need some luck off a wide gate, but is a must for all top 4 combinations.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Stout is the one to beat.
8 03:46 GRAND CASINO OPEN HCP 1400M 1400m
Moderate pace only with Inflamed leading Buoyant. MARTELL (3) has been a revelation since shifting to the South Island stable of Kelvin Tyler, winning all 3 starts from that yard, including a win here in September. He is still well treated at the weights and can make it 4 wins on the bounce. BUOYANT (7) has been narrowly beaten in his last couple of starts when looking like the winner until late. He has Bruno Queiroz in the saddle this time, and he can make all the difference where it matters most. Stick with him. LORD DARCI (1) was found wanting over a mile late on at Ashburton last start. He is better off over 1400m, and on a soft track. He has a good draw and would not be a shock winner. INFLAMED (11) did not fire fresh up and gets the blinkers on. She is a lot better than what she showed last start, and can be a quick improver at odds.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Martell can win again, but won't have it all his own way.
9 04:28 KB CONTRACTORS R75 1600M 1600m
Looks to be plenty of pace with Maximus Augustus and Our Approval battling for the lead. LOOSE SALLY (1) was heavily backed fresh up at Ashburton but finished well back, and it was reported that she did not like the firmer surface. She strips fitter, and will relish being back on her home track, which is likely to be softer than what she struck last time out. The extra furlong is ideal, so follow your money. OUR APPROVAL (4) was a beaten favourite fresh up on this course 18 days ago when needing the run. She steps straight up to a mile, and is expected to be a top 3 chance. Stick with her. ON FILE (2) failed to fire at Ashburton just over 3 weeks ago after making a bright start to the season. She gets a big swing in her draw here, and is worth another chance. Each way value. LETSBRINGTHEBLING (8) was unlucky not to win at Trentham last start. A repeat of that effort takes her close.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Loose Sally can win, and Letsbringthebling at each way value.
