PIRTEK MUSWELLBROOK COUNTRY BOOSTED MAIDEN HANDICAP 1280m
Bridego is expected to lead at a slick tempo. PENA PALACE (4) has not raced since failing on a heavy track on debut over 1200m at Canterbury in July. Meets a thin line-up today so a better run is expected. ARAPAWA (3) was in commission but failed to produce on debut nine days ago over 1200m at Coonabarabran. Draws a much better gate and the blinkers go on so improvement is on the cards. EDDIE'S CHARM (6) raced wide but still managed to close the race off well and finish third over this course and distance recently. Ready to peak at the third run back. BRIDEGO (2) showed pace but tired in the closing stages to miss a placing on debut here at this distance last start. Draws far closer this time so there might be a bit more in the tank at the end of this. REDFORD RIVER (1) found 1000m at Taree a bit slick on debut. Can improve over a bit more ground. SUGGESTED PLAY: Pena Palace each-way. |

THE CHOP SHOP BUTCHERY 3YO MAIDEN PLATE 1000m
Into Brooklyn, Head Kahuna and Ring My Bell to take up the running at a strong tempo. INTO BROOKLYN (6) went straight to the front and looked a chance but found one better last start over 1300m at Hawkesbury. Back in trip but she has the speed to cope. Not much depth here so this is a great opportunity to break through. VITTOZZI (11) settled back in the field and was trapped on a limb before a respectable midfield finish first-up over 1100m at Hawkesbury. Nicely drawn and at just her third race start can improve sharply. HEAD KAHUNA (1) is back from a four-month spell. Has only raced once and wasn't far away over this distance at Scone after showing good gate speed. Recent trial winner who just needs luck from a tricky gate to be in the finish. RING MY BELL (8) failed to flatter first-up at Coonabarabran but a better run is on the cards on a nine-day back-up with winkers going on. WHITTELLO SUN (2) trialled well at Scone recently and is worth monitoring on debut. SUGGESTED PLAY: Keen on Into Brooklyn. |

BOYLE ESTATE AGENTS PROFESSIONALS MUSWELLBROOK 4YO+ MAIDEN PLATE 1000m
Play Gem to take charge ahead of Just Joan at a good tempo.
JUST JOAN (6) led and gave a great sight but found the winner a little too good when resuming from a 15-month spell over 900m at Coonabarabran last start. Should take great benefit from that outing. Tongue tie on is an interesting gear change. Looks the one to beat. VARAZZE (12) sat handy and finished the race off well to record a fifth minor placing from ten runs last time out over this distance at Taree. Been in work for a while but keeps performing. Should be prominent again. TESORINO (9) wasn't beaten far when fresh from a spell over 900m here recently. Nicely drawn and can improve over the extra 100m. WANAVAN (3) is back from a brief spell. Placed four from ten including one here at this journey. Recent trial winner who looks ready for a strong return. THIEF OF JOY (10) is one for the wider exotics first-up from a seven-month spell. SUGGESTED PLAY: Just Joan to win. |

THE REMINGTON MUSWELLBROOK BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1000m
Strong tempo assured from Toyger and Thrilling Venture leading the charge.
COSMIC TREASURE (6) produced a real eye-catcher first-up over 900m at this track, charging home from last on the corner to get up for third. Won second-up last prep. Sure to prove tough to hold out over an extra 100m. TOYGER (3) led but folded late and finished well back at the end of 1100m at Port Macquarie. Finds an easier race today and coming back slightly in distance is to his advantage. THRILLING VENTURE (7) has been kept fresh since a dominant all-the-way win first-up over 900m in a maiden at Scone. Back better than ever and can go to this next level. OUR SILVER LININGS (2) is back sharply in trip after a near miss at Murwillumbah last start. Has won twice and both times it was at 1000m. Cannot be ruled out. NEVERMISTA (5) has been in the money at all three runs this prep. Distance specialist who likes racing here so must be considered. SUGGESTED PLAY: Keen on Cosmic Treasure. |

MAYORS CUP BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1750m
Expecting a strong tempo with Special Prophet, Cassie's Lad and Yamba's Girl going forward ahead of Bump'n'run and Deel Me A Queen. DEEL ME A QUEEN (6) started warm favourite but only ground away to finish fourth last start over 1450m at this track. Gets to this distance for the first time but on breeding and racing style it looks a good move. In the right race to bounce back for supporters. SWEET BUBBLES (1) won a similar race here two back then stepped up in grade at Newcastle last start and struggled. Freshened up and worth another chance back in her right race. OBVIOUSLY ALBERT (9) has only won once in 26 runs but recent efforts have been encouraging. Made late inroads to get up for second last time over the mile at Nowra. This step up in distance comes at the perfect time. BUMP'N'RUN (3) did his best work late when runner-up in open company over 1600m at Taree last start. Big drop in grade and this looks a nice assignment at the third run back. FARRAIGE (10) has been plain of late but can improve coming back in trip. SUGGESTED PLAY: Deel Me A Queen to win. |

MUSWELLBROOK COAL COMPANY COUNTRY BOOSTED CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1450m
Xerxes to take up the running with Supreme Statement and Rasloc close at hand. SUPREME STATEMENT (1) took nine runs but finally broke the maiden status last start over 1350m at the Beaumont circuit. Backs up eight days later and can step up to this level successfully. DOWN THE KOOKA (8) disappointed last time out over the mile at Scone, travelling midfield but failing to improve. Has won here at this distance. Blinkers go on for the first time today so it will be no surprise if he bounced back to form. XERXES (2) bolted in over 1600m at Gunnedah two back to crack the maiden. Failed over a longer journey at Armidale more recently. Yet to miss the placings in three runs here and coming back to a more suitable trip puts him right in contention. PONTEVEDRA (6) chimed in late to get the prize over 1280m here last start when lining up for only the second time. Plenty of scope for further improvement. RASLOC (9) has been about the mark at both runs this prep and is ready to peak. SUGGESTED PLAY: Supreme Statement just gets the nod. |

ARROWFIELD BOWMAN SPRINT 900m
Plenty of pace with Zoe Shark and Real Deluxe up front, pressured by Who Goes There and Redline.
Consistent mare SPECK (4) wasn't the best away so did a good job to be beaten just 1.5 lengths last start over 1000m at Scone. Competitive at Dubbo the run prior in a $75k open sprint so she can cope with this class. ZOE SHARK (2) added to a fine record over this specialist distance when narrowly defeated at Newcastle two back. Good effort to finish third off a seven-week let-up at Scone last time. Fitter and makes plenty of appeal. SARATOGA POWER (5) cruised to victory here at this distance two back before a moderate effort over 1100m at Scone most recently. Has won three from four here so back to 900m he is a major player. Ex WA sprinter REAL DELUXE (9) returns from a three-month spell for new trainer Paul Theobald. Betting should tell the story. WHO GOES THERE (1) won over 950m at Moree two back to chalk up the hat trick. Didn't measure up in town last time but can make amends. SUGGESTED PLAY: This looks a nice race for Speck. |
