NUM TIME COMMENT
1 12:57 THE RJC MELBOURNE CUP DAY Class 3 Handicap 1500m
Moderate pace only with Dulcet leading One Thing Counts. It's hard to knock the form of OUT OF LUCK (3) who has three wins and two placings from five starts this time in work and winning rider Wiggins reunites in the saddle. Has a win and a placing from two starts at this start and should be right there when the whips are cracking. DARLING CLEMENTINE (4) is yet to miss the top-four in eight career outings and doesn't know how to put in a poor one. Expecting another positive performance. ONE THING COUNTS (2) has been just behind the placings in all three runs this campaign and will be ready to peak now fourth run in. Top-three aspirations. PEAKING TOM (7) saves his best form for his home circuit here and may earn some minor money.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Siding with Out Of Luck.
2 01:34 RQ SUPPORTS SAFETY IN RACING - EVERY JOB, EVERY DAY QTIS 3-Y-O Maiden Handicap 1300m
Anna Chatabox is the likely leader at a keen tempo. FILLYDELPHIA MISS (4) has been knocking on the door of a maiden victory placing in three of six overall and strikes a very winnable contest here. Rock-hard fit now and is sure to be right there at the business end. THE KOBAY TRAIN (6) has been thereabouts in recent efforts and gets in well at the weights with the 3kg claim from the low draw. Looks well placed to break the ice. ANNA CHATABOX (3) was in the market when facing the starter for the first time and where there's smoke there's fire. Top-three candidate with that debut effort now in the locker. LOUIS AUGUSTE (9) resumes here but the form he showed when last in work was good enough to feature in a contest of this nature. Can run a race while fresh. CHANTILLY QUEEN (5) is a last-start placegetter who should be underestimated.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Boxed Trifecta 4,6,3,9.
3 02:15 ROCKHAMPTON BUSINESS MACHINES QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1050m
Plenty of pace likely from Old Gold, Marrero and Bitter Spirit battling for the lead from Cascia. OLD GOLD (6) just missed the placings at Townsville when resuming and will have come on from that hit-out. Has placed over this course and distance and this is not an overly strong affair. Rates the testing material against this line-up. BITTER SPIRIT (2) resumes here but has revved up for this with a recent trial placing and gets the services of Cormack to navigate from the outside draw. Can make his presence felt while fresh. AUGUST JOE (1) is at the races for the first time but has shown ability at the trials and won't need to be a superstar to be competitive against this lot. Respect any market confidence. CASCIA (9) best of the rest.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Boxed Trifecta 6,2,1,9.
4 02:50 LINCON HIRE AND SALES RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1600m
Not a great deal of pressure likely in the small field, with Roy's Road a potential leader. ICONIC PRINCE (2) got a well-deserved Mackay victory at the latest effort and will have derived a stack of confidence from that overdue win. Winning rider Cormack sticks in the irons and can go back-to-back without shocking. GRUMPYWANTSATISSUE (8) is a consistent conveyance who has hit the top-five at his past seven starts and is usually thereabouts. Best form puts him right in this. ROY'S ROAD (9) is drawn to get a gun run in transit from the inside marble and rates a must for the exotics players. CITIROC (4) is a last-start winner who shouldn't be underestimated. The very well-related I SAY BOOM (1) (half to 6xG1 winner Chautauqua) best of the rest.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Iconic Prince to win again.
5 03:27 BELROMA PARK PTY LTD BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1300m
Slick pace with Woodstock Rock finding the front but it won't be a picnic with a few other speedy types engaged. WOODSTOCK ROCK (1) grows a leg for rider Wiggins who is yet to miss a drum in eight steers and will be high on confidence following a dominant win here last time out. Sure to be right there at the business end again. OUTWITTED (4) was a touch disappointing at the latest effort but the form prior was full of merit. Worth another chance. TIZSO FAB (3) has won two of his past three. Was below par two back at Bundaberg then bounced back with a win over 1400m at this track last time out. Sure to measure up and must be included in calculations. OUTTA CONTROL (8) resumed over 1200m at this track last start and finished fifth. Fitter and a top-three hope.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Leaning towards Woodstock Rock.
6 04:04 CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS AT CALLAGHAN PARK BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1100m
Fast pace assured with Snazzy Snitzel, Love My Louis and Gilbert's Gold leading the charge. UNDERRATED (1) couldn't have been more impressive saluting by over four lengths at Mackay last time out and winning rider Butler retains the ride. Maps ideally for this from gate two and rates among the leading contenders. The well-related SNAZZY SNITZEL (2) (full to G3 winner Dracarys) has a handy record over this track and trip with two wins and a second from five attempts. Winning claims on best figures. MOMENT OF TRUTH (5) gets in well at the weights with the 3kg off and can run a big race while fresh. GILBERT'S GOLD (3) is drawn to get a cosy run from the inside marble and is a definite top-three prospect. MOVE MY LOUIS (9) next best with the claim.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Underrated to go back-to-back.
