Global Turf 3YO Maiden Plate 1600m
Tricky, given the lack of early speed. Lots of these look close to getting off the mark. REGAL GENT (2) has raced four times and keeps improving, the latest a fast finishing second when having first try over the mile. Looks overdue and will be tough to stop again. HALF SCOTCH (6) has been thereabouts over 1400m the last couple, placing most recently. First try the trip and should be at top now. KAMAROOKA (7) is better than recent form suggests and gets chance to atone. CATALONA (3) is heading in the right direction having improved at each of three starts. Last start finished 1.3 lengths away in second over 1600m at Hamilton. Expected to run well again. SUGGESTED PLAY: Stay with Regal Gent. |

Ballarat Volkswagen Maiden Plate 2000m
Solid tempo headed by Don't Look Away and Nothin' Wong Here. Quite a good distance maiden. There was definitely nothing wrong with the debut run of NOTHIN' WONG HERE (3). Kicked off over 1765m at Geelong and kept coming to just miss. Has good upside and looks ideally suited out in journey. Worth following up. BUSH ETIQUETTE (4) was having just third starts and stepping up to 2000m for there first time and was beaten a neck. Expected to go close again. DIVINE CLEMENTINE (5) ran fourth in that same race and is another building to a win and has upside. LYTTELTON (2) is fitter for three runs back, placing fresh then finishing midfield last two. Looks suited out on journey now and should be at top. SUGGESTED PLAY: Stick with Nothin' Wong Here. |

McGrath Ballarat Maiden Plate 1000m
Just a modest pace in store without noted speed runners engaged. What started as a strong maiden decimated by scratchings. PACIFIC GLAMOUR (13) was well fancied on debut in much tougher company at Moonee Valley and not a lot went right. Given another spell and returns unbeaten in two jump-outs. Expecting big improvement this campaign and this looks ideal fresh. WHERE'S MY SOCK (10) stayed in the stalls fresh but ran a much better second last time. Quick back-up and will be on speed and tough to beat again. NIC THE CASH (2) placed two of four starts in first campaign and should be primed to run well fresh here off the back of three jump-outs. Currie has been aboard the last two and retains the mount. Expected to run well. DON'T DOUBT DOTTIE (12) is a first starter who is fitter for two jump-outs and has Allen and the inside. Watch the market closely. SUGGESTED PLAY: Stay with Pacific Glamour. |

Tobin Brothers Funerals 3,4 & 5-Y-O Maiden Plate 1200m
Anticipating good pressure with many of these at the races for the first time. Big field reduced to just seven. COOLY (17) was a close-up fourth on debut then got home hard to place last time. Has upside and drawn for a good run with cover so should be winding up again. Looks hard to hold out again. MISS ELLANEOUS (13) finished last campaign in stakes class when fifth and looks well placed here fresh. Has good speed and in the smaller field now expected to take catching. LIL ORLOV (9) is a Russian Revolution gelding who has trialled three times for three wins, the latest at Wodonga on October 20. Looks a capable type and will be competitive. PASADENA (10) is an Exceedance gelding ell educated with five hit-outs leading into this, the latest when placing in a Flemington jump-out. Aided by a nice alley and worth watching for a betting move. SUGGESTED PLAY: Follow up on Cooly. |

Manhari BM56 Handicap 1200m
Mini Angel and Zamora have the pace to take up the running at a solid tempo. Decimated by the scratchings. MINI ANGEL (10) gets chance to bounce back. Maiden winner two back then below expectations last time on top of the ground. Freshened, back to 1200m and chances enhances with the softer footing. Looks ideally placed to return to winning form. ZAMORA (16) was a maiden winner two back then ran well below best latest. Placed this trip three back and with good early pace can give a sight. TIPSY GYPSY (9) is a lightly raced mare progressing well. Broke her maiden status last start by a long neck over 1200m at this track. Shows promise and has Rawiller and a low draw. Could be over the odds. SOOBOOMA (15) doesn't win out of turn but will find this easier and on best figures can sneak into the finish. SUGGESTED PLAY: Mini Angel can bounce back. |

Hygain Winners Choice BM62 Handicap 1000m
Cosmic Vixen should spear straight to the front of the small field. LAVANDULA (5) couldn't have been more impressive fresh winning by a space here last time. Unbeaten from two tries at the trip and can only be fitter. Hard to beat again. DEMOJO (1) was also a well-fancied fresh-up winner when scoring over 1000m at Mildura. More weight but is a second-up winner, drawn well and can only be fitter. EL SALTO (3) is a veteran galloper with a strong record but a little off his best lately. Course and distance winner aided by the claim and always worth keeping safe. HIATUS (14) resuming from a lay-off. Coming along well including a win in a Flemington jump-out. Opened last campaign with a fifth at Flemington over 1100m. In the mix. SUGGESTED PLAY: Stay with Lavandula. |

Sportsbet Race Replays BM62 Handicap 1600m
Only a small field with Eskimo likely to find a comfortable lead. With all the scratchings MAXXI BON (5) gets chance to find some winning form. Has been going well recently, the latest placing in a similar race to this. Best figures stack up and loves the softer tracks. Looks a top player. ALBANIAN I AM (8) ran a big race at odds in richer company last time when tried to lead throughout and placed at Geelong. Course and distance placed and off the low draw can give a sight again. ESKIMO (1) steps up to provincial company after a last-start win by a nose over 1550m at Manangatang. Has been going very well though with two wins from last three. Senior rider goes on and wit good early pace will be in this for a long way. VERIFIER (6) is fitter for one run back from a break and looks a big improver. SUGGESTED PLAY: Follow up on Maxxi Bon. |

Hygain Winners Choice BM62 Handicap 1400m
Only a small field with Battaglia likely to find a comfortable lead. WRIGLEY FIELD (12) will be heavily bet and looks the hardest to beat. Progressive type who was a fresh-up winner then beaten just a length latest. Rates highly and expected to go close. MERE MORSEL (4) tackled slightly tougher grade last time and safely held. At peak now and drawn to camp just off the leaders. VORES (18) is yet to fill a placing in two runs since resuming from a spell, the latest effort a sixth over 1200m at this track a week-and-a-half ago. Fitter again and worth noting sole win was on softer ground. Should be winding up late. BALLON D'OR (5) has been mixing form lately but rates highly on best figures. This much easier than last start and with the claim should run well. SUGGESTED PLAY: Follow in on Wrigley Field. |
