NUM TIME COMMENT
1 02:48 ANZAC Day Races 25 April Handicap 1300m
A keen contest with He's Essential and Siakam leading from Prince Ruban.  BON'S YOUR BACK (4) is an ex-Victorian who has finished third in both of his local starts. He has badly missed the kick in each of those runs, and only has to get it right in the barriers to win a race like this. SACCHARO (2) is a tough veteran who will be suited by a 5-horse field. His 5-week gap between runs would have done him no harm, and he has top 3 claims this time. SIAKAM (1) had a couple of excuses last time out, and his win prior in a similar field to this is the guide to use. Don't drop him. HE'S ESSENTIAL (5) will be chasing a hat-trick of wins and is 1 of 3 in the field for leading trainer Gary Clarke. Jarrod Todd had the pick and chose this fellow, so he can get the job done again. PRINCE RUBAN (3) did not cope with a 7-day backup last start and raced too keenly before dropping out over a mile 5 weeks ago. He is expected to be very hard to hold out.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Bon's Your Back to win.
2 03:28 Darwin Cup Carnival On Sale Handicap 1200m
Small field but plenty of pace engaged, including Zoumist, Starspangledancer and Style And Grace.  STARSPANGLEDANCER (5) was back in the winners' circle second up here just over 3 weeks ago when making all the running. She has the draw to set the early pace again, and in a small field, with a kilo less to carry, she is well placed to repeat the dose. STRAYA PRIDE (2) ended up getting too far back last start and failed to run on. He will be peaking third up, and with a slight dip in class, he can bounce straight back into the money. STYLE AND GRACE (3) was a beaten favourite last time out when leading and weakening in the run home. She will find this company more to her liking, and will probably be ridden with cover this time. Stick with her and follow your money. DEVILS DELIGHT (1) has been holding his form with his racing well-spaced. He has the pole position, and Jarrod Todd chooses to remain in the saddle. Hard to beat. ZOUMIST (4) is not out of this and would not be a shock winner.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Devil's Delight each way.
3 04:04 BTC Constructions Handicap 1200m
Only a small field with King Waldo likely to find a comfortable lead. KING WALDO (6)is still a maiden and has been doing everything but win a race. He was only bloused out late after setting the pace in a similar field last week when beaten into second place by a head. Wayne Dais steps into the irons, and maybe he can coax that little bit more out of him where it matters most. MOTIVATED MISS (3) is a handy mare resuming from a spell. She has not been overtaxed with racing and should be in for a good year. She comes to handy quickly, and can take this out. POINT LOMA (4) has been battling recently in Alice Springs and will be happy to be back on this track. He can make full use of the pole position and should pick up his first local win at short notice. KESSLER (1) resumes from a spell and might need the hit-out. Check the market.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Point Loma each way.
4 04:37 Cleanaway TROBIS Maiden Plate 1100m
Anticipating a genuine tempo over the 1100m journey.  VIERI (4) started his career in Sydney and was placed twice last spring, and then changed stables this year, trialling in Victoria before being moved on to the Chris Nash stable on this track. He has a long way to go to recoup his million-dollar-plus yearling price tag, but should be the one to beat here. MERCHANT DELIGHT (3) found some trouble in the running when finishing sixth here just over 3 weeks ago. He was in the money in both of his starts before that, and can figure in the top 3 here. ACHACHA (6) made her debut in Queensland last spring and will be making her local debut with the blinkers on for the first time. A good draw helps, and she should measure up. Each way. LI'L BRAZEN (7) has changed stables after some handy performances earlier in the year. Let the market be your best guide.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Vieri to win.
