Jim Barry Colts, Geldings & Entires Maiden Plate 1100m
Bleak Mid Winter should have enough pace to lead a low-pressure contest. BLEAK MID WINTER (7) has been a beaten favourite in 2 well-spaced starts this season and will be even stronger this year. He benefits from a 3kg claim and from a handy draw, he can take this out fresh up. Follow your money. EL EXPLOSIVO (9) is knocking on the door for his first win and was a solid fourth at Port Lincoln nearly 3 weeks ago. He is probably better suited to the sprint trips, and with the blinkers on for the first time, he should be the main threat to the top pick. LORD VALEN (3) has been trying to win a race for some time and found it a bit tough at Morphettville-Parks 7 weeks ago. He drops back to 1100m and will find this company more to his liking. The blinkers are off, and he can bounce straight back into the money. ZOUHOFF (12) is capable of figuring in the finish here. SUGGESTED PLAY: Bleak Mid Winter to win. |

Sportsbet Nobody Does it Better Fillies & Mares Maiden Plate 1100m
Moderate tempo with So Immaculate leading the way. SO IMMACULATE (11) showed some talent in Victoria during her initial campaign last spring and has changed stables this year after a couple of Cranbourne jumpouts. She has a good draw and with the benefit of a 3kg claim, she will be right in the finish. Use the market as your best guide. MISS PANTHERLOT (1) has been building her fitness and did well to finish fourth after a wide trip at Strathalbyn 8 days ago. She has a superior gate this time and has top 3 claims this time. ZOUNORMOUS (5) resumes from a spell and from a good draw, she has to be respected. Include in all combinations. HATESCHOOLCONCERTS (6) will find this easier than her fresh up run and is open to improvement in a modest field. SUGGESTED PLAY: Miss Pantherlot each way. |

Platinum Ag Class One Plate 1800m
Slick pace with Rikki Rikkardo finding the front but it won't be a picnic with a few other speedy types engaged. RIKKI RIKKARDO (11) only weakened late after setting the pace last time out in a tougher field, finishing sixth. She was an overdue maiden winner before that, and will be suited by the step up to a middle distance. She is the likely leader from her handy gate, and will take some pegging back. GILDED AGE (2) is heading the right way with his form and made up many lengths when finishing runner-up at Strathalbyn 8 days ago over a mile. The extra furlong is ideal, and he can have the last say this time. GRAND MAXIM (3) has been racing well enough since cracking his maiden status at Balaklava 3 starts back. He is likely to race handy to the pace, and another honest effort is on the cards. AMBITIOUS CREEK (1) stuck to his task gamely when finishing second at Balaklava 17 days ago. He meets an even field and will be competitive again. SUGGESTED PLAY: Grand Maxim each way. |

Kadina & Clare Valley Jewellers Rating 0 - 58 Handicap 1200m
Expecting Headline Story to find the lead but there will be plenty of pressure over the sprint course.
FLYIN' FOR US (1) had an excuse for his modest effort at Oakbank a month ago and has been given time to recover from his slight injury that day. He has won 2 of his 3 starts on this circuit, and from a handy gate, he will be hard to hold out. Stick with him. SUMAMBISTARR (5) got too far back over 1050m at Balaklava last time out and failed to make up any ground. She won her maiden here in February and can make amends over 1200m, especially with the aid of a 3kg claim. KNIGHT DANCER (2) was beaten by a wide gate last start and was in tougher company before that. He is nicely placed in this from a superior draw, and he can bounce back into the money here. Each way. SIR RANDOLPH (3) resumes from a spell and might need the run. This company is easier than his recent racing last spring, and he would not be a shock winner. ALPINE JOY (4) won her maiden by a neck at Balaklava last start and has the scope to go on with the job. Include in all combinations. SUGGESTED PLAY: Knight Dancer each way. |

Magic 105.9 FM Benchmark 54 Handicap 1100m
Solid tempo with Smashing Action to lead but under plenty of pressure in a keen early contest. SMASHING ACTION (1) overcame a wide gate fresh up at Naracoorte when scoring as expected by well over a length. This field is not much tougher, and a 3kg claim will help reduce her top weight. She has more upside than most in this, and she can take the next step immediately. VAMPIRE SLAYER (8) has found it hard to win another race and battled on fairly for seventh at Murray Bridge 10 days ago over 900m. She was third over this trip here before that, and can bounce straight back into the money here. OUR GODDESS (3) did not stride out as expected at Balaklava last time out. She was in good form earlier in the year and is worth including in all combinations. STAR DECORUM (5) is resuming from a spell that would have done her the world of good. She can make full use of the pole position and won't be far away. KUITPO KISS (2) won fresh up on a soft track last prep and then had a bleeding attack in her next start. Watch the markets for any positive leads. SUGGESTED PLAY: Smashing Action to win. |

Professionals Edwards & Co Rating 0 - 60 Handicap (Heat 8 of Provincial Pathways Series) 1800m
Pace looks strong with I'm Kenny pushing forward from out wide along with Cuban Lord in closer. I'M KENNY (4) likes to set the pace and was back in form at Balaklava 17 days ago when fighting on to finish runner-up. He wouldn't mind some cut in the ground, and with an extra furlong being no problem, he could take them all the way. JAMROCK (10) is building his fitness and was third over a mile at Strathalbyn 8 days ago. He will relish stepping up to 1800m and should go close to taking this out. CUBAN LORD (7) seldom runs a bad race, and even though he was on the wrong leg at Streaky Bay 4 weeks ago, he still managed to finish third. Stick with him on an each-way basis. ENCIPHERING (6) is nicely placed in this and is now ready to put his best hoof forward. A form reversal is on the cards. SUGGESTED PLAY: Jamrock each way. |

G and J East Claas Rating 0 - 52 Handicap 1200m
Expecting a strong gallop with Commanding Reign and Shipwreck taking up the running over Lancelotto. COMMANDING REIGN (1) has plenty of pace and is resuming at an easier level than he is used to. He resumes with a couple of trials under his belt, and from a good draw, he can take this out, especially if the money comes for him. LANCELOTTO (5) has been battling to find some form but meets the right sort of field and is worth including in all combinations, despite a wide gate. SHIPWRECK (2) was a last-start winner off a wide draw at Port Lincoln nearly 3 weeks ago. He cops another wide gate, but this field is no tougher, and he can repeat the dose. PIWHANE (10) weakened out over a mile 8 days ago and is worth another chance over 1200m. Include in all multiples. SUGGESTED PLAY: Shipwreck each way. |
