NUM TIME COMMENT
1 12:40 WELCOME TO NELSON MANDELA BAY MAIDEN JUVENILE PLATE 1000m
READY (1) produced an encouraging debut effort over 1200m on this course last star. He showed good pace but found one too good on the day. Stable Jockey Craig Zackey jumps aboard and if this run has not come too soon, he may find himself in the winner's enclosure. PRICELESS TREASURE (4) showed good pace when second over this distance on the polytrack, on debut. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. Resumes from a spell and rates well as a leading chance. SOMBREUIL (6) is an unraced daughter of What A Winter from the Kelly Mitchley stable with Calvin Habib in the saddle. If not too green, she should give a good account of herself. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her chances. SUPREME JUDGE (2) can do better than last start run at this track would suggest and can contest today.
2 01:15 PLAY SOCCER 6, 10 AND 13 MAIDEN JUVENILE PLATE 1400m
BAROLO (1) was touched off on debut over 1200m on this course. She took time to find her feet, but the manner in which she finished off her race was encouraging. She would have gained from the experience and will love the rise to 1400m. Craig Zackey steps into the saddle and she can go one better. LADY BLUNT (5) hails from the visiting Justin Snaith stable. Her last two starts after an encouraging debut effort have been disappointing. The daughter of Quasillo jumps from pole position and she can improve to finish in the placings. SILVAN MISTRESS (8) missed the frame on debut then progressed nicely at her second outing, finishing a long neck from the winner in third at the end of 1200m at this track. Looks hard to beat. ROYAL CITY GIRL (6) made an encouraging debut last time out, finishing fourth f 11 over 1200m at this track. Improver worth including in exotic bets.
3 01:50 RACING TODAY DERBY PLATE 2000m
WAHEED (3) ran a good race when second in a Listed event last time. He raced from a handy position but found one too good on the day. The son of Time Thief tries the 2000m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he may be the one to beat. AHEAD OF THE FACTS (5) followed up his maiden win with a good second-place finish over 2200m at Kenilworth last start. Each-way chance. MASTER FORESTER (1) finished fourth last time out over 1600m at this track. Tackles a longer journey this time. Change of rider to Richard Fourie who has never been out of the money in five rides, including a win. Expected to measure up well. CORAL CREEK (2) won a good race over 1600m on the polytrack last time. He does have work to do at the weights. However, he is in a good space and should run a creditable race.
4 02:25 EAST CAPE OAKS 2000m
LOTUS ISLAND (1) is a winner of her last three starts over this distance. She raced from a handy position last time, quickened up well and drew clear of the opposition. She has found a new lease and she is the horse to beat. FIRST WISH (2) has won her last three starts, the latest of which was over 1800m on this course when resuming from a spell. She is in a good space and merits healthy respect. TAP SHOES (5) should have finished closer to the winner over 1800m at Durbanville last time. She should love the rise to 2000m and is worth considering. CAN'T SAY NO (4) had been rock-solid with three placings in a row before finishing fifth over 1400m at this track last start. Has the gate speed to take up a forward position and has top-three claims.
5 03:00 RACING240 FOR RACING. FOR YOU OPEN MAIDEN 1400m
BLOSSOMING MIND (3) showed some improvement when fourth over 1800m at Durbanville last time. She raced from a handy position that day and stayed on well at the finish. The drop to 1400m is a slight concern, but she is coming along the right way and may be the one to side with. TWILIGHT BAY (2) returns from a spell and is having her first run for Gavin Smith. It must be noted that the horse that finished third in her last outing has come out and won since. If not in need of the run, she should be competitive in this type of field. GENTEEL (1) moved up well over 1600m last time but found one too good on the day. With a bit of luck from the widest draw, she should be involved in the fight to the finish. DUCHESS OF SEVILLE (6) has been costly to follow in her last three starts. The daughter of Duke Of Marmalade steps up to 1400m which may do the trick and the combination of Alan Greeff and Richard Fourie cannot be ignored.
6 03:35 TAB 4RACING APP MR 78 HANDICAP 1600m
FINAL EDITION (4) was running on well after a slow start over this course and distance last time. He takes a drop in class and Richard Fourie steps back into the saddle. He is likely to be settled near the rear of the field from the widest draw and will be mowing down the frontrunners. PRIME VENTURE (11) stayed on well when fourth of nine over 2200m at Kenilworth last time. Both his career victories have come over this distance. Worth an each-way ticket. GRANDIOSA (5) got up on the line when winning her stable debut over this course and distance last start. She is in a good space and she should give the males a decent run for their money. SUN SPECTACULAR (7) doesn't win out of turn but ran a strong race last time out over 1400m at this track, finishing second and beaten a neck. Finds a suitable race and has top-three claims.
7 04:10 FAIRVIEW FLYING FIVE 1000m
KINGDUNDEE (1) should have finished closer to the winner last time as he hung outwards over the final 250m. His penultimate run when winning over this course and distance was impressive. She is having his peak run and with Craig Zackey back in the saddle, he should prove hard to beat. MERCANTOUR (3) ran a good race when fourth of 10 in his stable debut. He drops to 1000m and the blinkers should sharpen him up. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and the combination merit healthy respect. ANUSCKA'S WORLD (5) performed above expectations last time over 1200m at this track, finishing third after starting at long odds. Has to be considered. FIRST ORIGIN (4) progressed nicely last time out to score over 1200m at this track. Likely to be there at the finish again.
8 04:45 NEXT FAIRVIEW RACEMEETING FRIDAY 18 APRIL CLASSIFIED STAKES 1200m
CHAMPONELLE (6) has produced two good second place finishes since winning his maiden. It is encouraging that Marco van Rensburg steps back into the saddle and the combination may find themselves in the winner's enclosure. SWEET AND TRUE (1) was given a perfect ride by Luyolo Mxothwa when winning his last start over this course and distance last start. He raced from just off the pace, moved up well and kept finding all the way to the line. He is in a good space and can follow up. COASTAL PATH (3) finished fourth of seven last time out as favourite over 1200m at this track. Has a sound record here with three wins and five placings from 17 starts. Best form puts him right in this. SILVERY SURFER (2) scored last start at this track over 1200m at long odds and is expected to go forward here. In the mix.
