Abundant early pace from the speedy trio of Mastership, Deception Pass and Monte Bello. SAKURAJIMA (11) produced an encouraging debut effort over 1450m on this course. He understandably raced greenly but the manner in which he fought on at the finish was encouraging. He would have gained from the experience and should enjoy the rise to the mile. With the natural improvement that is expected, he may find himself in the winner's enclosure. MASTERSHIP (1) raced from a handy position over 1400m last time but found one too good on the day. He will relish the rise to the mile and he is one of the leading contenders. DECEPTION PASS (2) overraced in his last start over 1700m which may have cost him winning. It must be noted that the form of that race has since been franked. He will strip much fitter and if switching off early, he should be hard to beat. BREATH OF MAGIC (4) has shown some improvement in his last 2 starts but has been a maiden for a long time. Include in all combinations.
