ASCOT   25 April 2024
NUM TIME COMMENT
1 01:09 AMELIA PARK PLATE 1400m
Moderate pace only with Spice Is Right leading True Apostle. The juveniles kick things off and TRUE APOSTLE (1) looks the one to beat. Strong win over 1200m on debut as favourite and the rise in trip doesn't appear to be an issue. Draw is a little tricky, but he's expected to improve off the fresh effort. Will take plenty of catching. TACTICS (2) stuck on well from midfield to miss out by 1.2L over 1000m at Ascot and jumps straight up in trip. He showed enough there to think the rise in distance is no worry. Likely to get back again and can run right over the top late. SPICE IS RIGHT (3) finished behind Tactics last start despite jumping shorter in the market. Getting back out in trip may hold the key to this gelding and he's expecting to be right in the finish. SNIPPERANDO (6) was good behind True Apostle at 100-1 last start and won't be far away again. BATTLE ON BATTLER (4) gets the blinkers on first time and can improve.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Siding with True Apostle.
2 01:44 BISLEY WORKWEAR HANDICAP 1000m
Certain to be a strong tempo with Magic Belle, Just So Sassy and Miss Flirtacious leading the charge. RISEANFALL (2) led all the way to score last start over this track and trip and should strip fitter again now third-up. She's still lightly raced with plenty of upside, and Brandon Louis has been on board all campaign thus far. She has the pace to get to the front again and take plenty of catching. STEVIE'S MAY (7) resumes today on the back of a handy trial at Lark Hill recently. The gear changes coming in suggest she's a more mature commodity now and she can be handy from the inside barrier. Gets a big tick with CJP sticking from the trial and her best form is good enough to be winning. MISS FLIRTACIOUS (6) led them up in an easier event at Narrogin before kicking away to win comfortably. While this is tougher, she should be better for that effort and she's sure to be right in the finish. MAGIC BELLE (5) has trialled well coming into today and improved with every run in her debut preparation. Big chance. EXPOROSE (9) is better than she showed last start and is worth including.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Riseanfall to win again.
3 02:19 MACMAHON HANDICAP 1200m
Pace looks genuine from Little Silver, Forever Classic and Gorgeous Gus, closely attended by Quindandino. DANCE BOSS (3) got back off a slow tempo last start and rattled home in the small field to just miss as favourite. He'll be better for that effort and he returned with a new peak rating which bodes well for the rest of his campaign. Looks a quality galloper who should be getting the job done today. FOREVER CLASSIC (4) bolted in two back before finishing in behind Dance Boss last time out, beaten 1L on the line. She ticks plenty of boxes again today from a good alley and Brad Parnham sticking. Expecting her to go close once again. BIG CITIES (8) is better than he showed last start when getting a long way back down the Pinjarra straight and never featuring. On the quick turnaround today and up in trip which suits. Likely to play a major role. DEETEA (2) disappointed when fresh but boasts a strong second-up record, winning 2/3. Expecting sharp improvement. LITTLE SILVER (1) can be around the mark while fresh.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Keen on Dance Boss.
4 02:54 STUDCO HANDICAP 1200m
Solid pace from Legacy Of Tara and Star Power pushing forward with Solar System in close attendance. STAR POWER (4) made it three in a row when holding on over this course and distance last time, scoring in a photo. We'll get a gauge on that form in Race 3, but she appears to have hit her straps this time in. Rapidly improving with every run and can keep the picket fence going. SOLAR SYSTEM (7) didn't run out the journey over 1400m last time out and looks suited back to this journey. Suspect the stable will return to the way they did things first-up when narrowly beaten as a deep odds-on favourite. That level of form is good enough to feature. ZANGIEF (3) bolted in as a 25-1 chance on the Scarpside at Pinjarra last time out. This is a tougher assignment, but it's hard to ignore what he did last start and a repeat effort would see him go close again. SHE'S IMMINENT (2) is better than she showed first-up and can produce a much better effort this time. STORM LEADER (6) can improve getting back out to this trip third-up.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Star Power can make it four in-a-row.
5 03:25 RELIABLE ASSET MAINTENANCE HANDICAP 1400m
Good tempo with Jay Dee and Kelvin leading the way. MADAME MAGIC (3) has been narrowly defeated in her past couple of outings, finishing just 0.8L off them at Geraldton most recently. She'll find this easier than her pas couple of outings and she's right on the cusp of another victory. Gets her chance to win again now. LUCKY'S WAY (5) ran home strongly over 1200m at Ascot to just miss by 0.2L most recently. This looks to set up similarly with CJP riding from a tricky barrier. She's likely to go back from the gate, but is sure to be exploding late in the race. AGASSI (4) drops back to 1400m today on the quick backup after a 4.5L defeat at Pinjarra last time out. She's been a long time between drinks for him, but he strikes a suitable race this time and he should be prominent from the draw. Worth including. SPECIAL VIEW (1) has been mixing his form of late but his best figures are good enough. JAY DEE (7) wasn't far away last time out is sure to be about the finish again.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Madame Magic gets the nod.
6 03:55 RSLWA TROPHY 1400m
Deal Obtained and El Patron will press forward early in a keen battle for top spot. VALDARENA (7) bolted in first-up on the Scarpside at Pinjarra when running away to win by 2.1L. That sets her up for a successful campaign where she can improve again with a run under her belt. Maps for a similar run here and she can make it two wins in a row. PULL THE TRIGGER (3) shed the maiden tag in good style at Geraldton when running away to win by 1.8L. The booking of Pike is a positive sign and he's very effective at this trip. Appears the main danger. KIRALUI (8) Should be ready to peak now third-up and did so to win off a similar preparation last campaign. The inside draw is a big tick and Parnham sticking adds confidence. Should be in this for a very long way. STATE OF FURY (10) is better than what she showed last time out and can bounce back with CJP in the saddle. HIGHLAND FLAIR (2) squealed home first-up and should appreciate the rise in trip and drop in class. Live chance despite being 100-1 last start.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Valdarena can win again.
7 04:25 DIGGERS CUP 1800m
Solid tempo with What A Prince going forward from the good draw. The feature of the day, the Diggers Cup and progressive 4yo TIN CHOOKS (7) is the one to beat. He stretches his form out to 1800m for the first time, but the way he races suggests that he'll eat up the extra furlong. Will sit back in the run and be storming over the top of them late. CASINO SEVENTEEN (1) disappointed in the Pinjarra Cup when tailing out and beaten 9.3L, but he was unsuited by how that race is run. Should be suited by the big field engaged and Pike taking the ride is a positive sign. Can bounce back to his prior form. CURRIMUNDI (6) sprinted quickly to win the Albany Cup and drops in weight for today's assignment. Rates highly off his last start win and a repeat effort would see him in the finish. ROKANORI (8) is a live chance on recent form and he is a track and trip winner previously. Interesting to note the blinkers come off. GHOBELLA (11) will want a true staying test but is more than capable of winning on her recent form.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Tin Chooks in the Diggers Cup.
8 04:55 THE LAST POST 1800m
Strong early tempo with Rommel's Jeuney likely to hold the lead from the rails draw, joined by Yes Of Course. STOP DREAMING (2) was dominant in an easier race second-up, bolting in over 1720m at Narrogin to score by 4.2L. Should be fitter again now and he looks to have found his old form from a couple of preps ago. Going well and can improve off the last-start effort to win again. KNOCKONEBACK (5) took on the Derby last time out and was out-classed followed a good effort at this track and trip prior. This looks to suit much better and he should be prominent from the draw. Sure to take plenty of catching. BEERMULLAH (10) jumped favourite at Narrogin but found a few better, beaten 2.7L after a good win the start prior. This is tougher, but Campbell claims 2kg and he won't be far away. ALLEGRO SONATA (3) just missed last start over the mile and looks ready for this rise in trip now. Nicely drawn and can be in the finish. DO IT RIGHT (1) got the job done over this course and distance last start over a subsequent winner and has claims.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Stop Dreaming can win the last.
