GOING: G

DRC Season Opener Benchmark 64 Hcp 1150m

Track: SYNTHETIC     Rail: True.

Reasonable tempo with The Real Man probably leading but a few others should keep him honest. Hard to fault THE REAL MAN (1) who comes into the race in line for a winning hat-trick. Was a length winner as favourite two back beating a few of these then a determined winner as favourite again here last time. Building a top record over the course and distance and looks tough to beat again. WILD NIGHTS (5) was doing her best work late last start to get up for third over 1100m at Hobart. All set to run well. VOLKANOVSKI (8) has a moderate winning strike rate but performed well last time at Hobart, finishing third and only 2 lengths from the winner at the end of 1000m after being in contention on the bend. Suitably placed so anticipating a big run this time. GEE GEES ME BOY (4) turned in a fair effort at Launceston over 1200m at his last run five months ago, finishing sixth and beaten 3 lengths. Two-time winner fresh and expecting an effective return. OZONICA (2) has claims if presented on song. SUGGESTED PLAY: Follow in on The Real Man.

Chasing a hat-trick. Comes here off a 31-day let-up. Most recently favourite; raced right near the speed and boxed on; won by a nose at this track on July 26 over 1150m defeating Hububbajahn carrying 57kg at $1.80. Before that favourite; tracked the speed and boxed on steadily; won by 1.0 len at this track on July 12 over 1009m defeating Volkanovski with 55kg at $6. Going well this circuit and should prove hard to beat.
